Liverpool`s season can be explained thus: No cup games, hence more recovery and preparation time for PL matches. Due to playing less games, they have picked up less long term injuries to severely affect their team and have had a settled starting squad of 13 or 14 players. They have had 2 forwards in the form of their careers, of which either will struggle to replicate ever again. As is usual, 80% of referees have given Liverpool the benefit of doubt, hence all the soft penalties and free kicks awarded, the lack of penalties and free kicks conceded, red cards against and failure to punish any of their cheating. Their players have perfected the art of diving. They have taken advantage of managerial changes and upheaval at United and Spurs. The media campaign for Liverpool to win the league has helped push them on, even more so with the Hillsborough anniversary.
Spurs fans ripping us for falling just short in a tile race we were never expected to be in is like a virgin taking the piss out of a guy for getting dumped by Cindy Crawford. But Im not going to stop you enjoying yourselves. usually I would say dont get enjoyment out of other teams failings but instead enjoy your teams achievements. But lets face it that would be a silly thing to say. Enjoyment out of Tottenham this year. (Blood out of a stone.) Ridiculous things is. Man City will probably go and draw tonight which would have put the title in our hands if it wasnt for yesterdays spectacular collapse/implosion/breakdown. The team has dropped off after the Chelsea game. I do believe if we had any sort of result against Chelsea yesterdays capitulation would not have occurred. As entirely gutted as I am about the season finishing as it has done. (Maybe not over.) Im not going to moan. At least 30 of our games this year have been crackers where we have gone out and dominated, we are in the champions league. Whats to moan about.
"Spurs fans ripping us for falling just short in a tile race we were never expected to be in is like" Mousers telling us in 2010 that Spurs finishing above them in the PL is a "one season wonder" ??
Could be worse..lol. Its a funny old game. I was much more disappointed the previous week when we lost to Chelsea. That was when it really felt like it was all over. We have exceeded expectations all year, so it s not like you can be too down. Fair play to Palace. Always been wary of Palace since 1990. The lost to them 4-3 in one of the best CUp semis I have ever seen thanks to Wright, Bright and errrrr Pardew..lol
So you're saying that Liverpool suffered a shock result from the efforts of a certain Alan Pardew? Hmm... Who's your final game against, again? I forget...
I've just heard, on the radio, some very well respected Spanish ITK telling everyone that Real will get Goofy, in the Summer, for 90,000,000 euros, that's equivalent to £70 million. You heard it here, first.
No doubt Liverpool this year is an advertisement for not playing in Europe. The bigger factor IMO (though one that combined well with playing fewer games) is a combination of one outstanding and three surprisingly excellent attacking players (Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling) combined with a good long passer and, above all, a commitment to using long passes, pace and hard running to get chances before defenses can get set. The success Liverpool had in doing that will be influential, I think. It was so successful that it almost completely outweighed the fact that half the starters are fairly ordinary. Slipping up?
The problem that 'Pool now has, as every Mouser and his dog is going to discover over the coming weeks, is that once Real set their sights on a player they never let up and they will get their man. There is a reason why Goofy buckled down for Rodgers, after having told the press that his "dream" was to play for Real, and then vying for a move to Arsenal. He didn't chuck his toys out of the pram, or put in a transfer request, he went about his business. Why? Because he was promised a move this Summer. In return, the club asked him for two things: (1) to buckle down, which he did, and (2) sign a new contract to bump up his price in the Summer, which he did. The Yank owner would have told Goofy that that was the least he could do for the fans. Goofy made good on his side of the bargain, now it's 'Pool's turn to do the same. If the Yank stitches him up, watch out for the biggest meltdown in Football history! It won't be pretty, trust me.
What's nonsense? The fact that Goofy told the press, last Summer that his dream move would be to Real? Or the fact that, after hearing that Real would not be in for him at that time, Goofy stamped his foot about wanting to move to Arsenal? Or the fact that it's being reported that Real will make Goofy their No.1 target this Summer? Self-delusion is a dreadful thing to witness.
Taking media gossip as a done deal is nonsense, all this you've played less games is the only reason we are where we are is nonsense, everyone saying our players will go downhill is nonsense, "it'll be a harder league next season" more nonsense. Credit when due we've done well, personally I think we'll also do well next season.
A little early to tell, isn't it? Who knows what the summer holds? There's still a game or two to play, anyway.
Nah. You had your chance and you blew it. When it came to the crunch, your players, including the previously untouchable Stevie G, buckled. Chavs will see to it that you never get close to them again, as will £ity. Whilst I can't see Arsenal improving, I can see United putting this nightmare of a season behind them and really pushing on. Will you be good enough for top 4? No, I can't see it, personally.
