Blimey, I don't want to insult anyone, but do you have trouble understanding plain English or something..? That was about as clear a signal that Adam wants to stay as it's possible to say without actually saying the words... I'm Staying..!

If he wanted to be clear he would've said the words. He's not naive enough to not realise that's what everyone wanted to hear. I'm surprised if you couldn't hear or see how uncomfortable/emotional he became when asked the final question.

The quote in isolation is good.

The way he awkwardly shuffled, cleared his throat, choked up, got emotional and said "I'll always remember my time here", "my five years with Rickie" etc. certainly felt more natural and honest than what followed.

Like Beefy said, I've always got the impression that Adam is quite a shy person in public. I met him once when he was signing autographs when he was injured and he certainly didn't come across as particularly confident.

And the old Saints fans' neurosis rears its' head, reading into every little detail.....It's an awards ceremony, footballers are always a little bit awkward during acceptance speeches.

It wasn't quite "I'll always remember my time here", think his exact words were "I've had some great memories here", which is slightly awkward and I agree that the "pushing on with the club" bit seemed like an afterthought.

Maybe he just doesn't know what is coming, and it sounded like he is prepared for either scenario. If he is to leave though it will be with a heavy heart I think (and of course I hope he stays).

Jesus Christ we have a lot of pessimistic fans.

I know I'm going to sound like GMI here, but in this case it really is a bit of realism.

Here we have a player moving into his prime, that has had smoke blown up his arse all season by every pundit going and has broken into the National squad ahead of a world cup with everyone now expecting him to make the starting eleven. It's going to be ridiculously hard to hold onto him.

He does always sound nervous when he's speaking in public so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to choosing the right words.

If he really is thinking of leaving we'll find out on Sunday with the lap of honour. If he comes out afte the other players then he's probably off.

Even the Top 4 Clubs have to fight hard to hold onto their best players. Le Tiss, for us, was the exception to the rule.

Or thinks there is a chance. With the best will in the world, he probably knows that if the club accepts a big offer for him, he's not going to have much choice. He probably has as much of an idea as we do about how likely that is.

I can't see him being nervous collecting his last award...he would be used to it by then. Sounded like a farewell speech to me with a smattering of guilt, then he added the sentence about staying to progress with the club with very little conviction. I'm a pretty optimistic fan, but he sounded like someone who isn't fully committed to Saints and feels ambivalent about it.

P.s. did Mauricio give a speech?

Well I would guess he has a little more of an idea about that than us.
