BBC Sport are reporting that 5under1and have made a bid for Ipswich's Connor Wickham.

Would be a good signing for them if it comes off but i expect Kenny D will bid double what they have to land him.

Is this lad, at 18, a £10 million striker? Have to confess I know nothing about him, not even seen him play nor want to look him up (pure laziness) .. just see lots of media coverage of him being the dog's b***ocks .. is it a case of looking good for Ipswich .. or is he really a top prospect (even so £10 - 15 Million seems a lot) ?

He's talented, that's about the best i can say.

He's only £10million because he's young and English. 13 goals in 65 apps is hardly going to set the world alight, especially when that came from 2 seasons in the Championship.

One for the future maybe but i'd say he'd be better off at somewhere with a proven track record of nuturing young strikers, with no offence to our neighbours, they don't have that.

From what I've seen he looks nowhere near as good as Carroll. I wouldn't pay £10m for him, if he steps up to the plate in the Prem, you'd have got him for roughly what he's worth, if he bombs it's a lot of money down the drain. Very little to gain by signing him for that price in my opinion.

On the scrolly, yellow bar thing.

Are you my managing Director?

Have you ever described a new server as the 'super duper server' or described a display bug on a web page as 'you know that bit on that page that shows that stuff we've got available; well it isn't very nice. I thinks it's because it's blue'?

One for Kenny Dollars at Liverpool then as they try to emulate the Niall Quinn / Kevin Philips striking model from our dear neighbours past ..

Massive gamble on him considering they need strikers

I've worked for people like that, when the thingymajig is wrong too its worse.

I don't understand this £10mill business whatsoever. In fact it's absolute madness.

09-10 - 4 goals in 26 apps
10-11 - 8 goals in 37 apps

His only prolific goalscoring record is 9 goals in 13 apps for the U17 England team, which, lets be frank, is ****e.

So, there's not a single shred of evidence that he is going to become some amazing striker. In fact, there's more evidence that he won't be able to cut it in the EPL with such a poor Championship scoring record.

I know he's only young, but he's 6'3, so he's obviously a big lad and should be showing hard signs of his forward ability right now - especially against lower quality opposition.

I honestly think that it's the snowball effect of everyone creating the hype themselves.

Ipswich say they want 10 million or better, so our rumoured 8m bid.

He's 6'3 and very handy - I'd be happy to have him, though Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested, the Gooners too according to the rumours last season.

On another note it seems CH might be looking into taking Best, Perch, Lovenkrands, Routledge and even Sol Campbell off our hands according to NUFC.com.

Would anybody mind him doing that?

I guess we'd need to make sure we had somebody better coming in first, but it's nice to know we've got a ready taker for them.
