    Dai, I was there.

Of course, i could be wrong but I felt that the atmosphere was not as good - that was my opinion and that of those with me.

Monk deserved a good response from those present in that he fulfilled his remit of keeping us in the PL. However, I'm not sure that means that Monk should get / deserve the Manager's job.

Very often in Business, a Manager is brought in to save and stabilise a Company. Once done, he may not be the man to take the Company forward - the skill set can be different.

Arguably, the same applies here. Monk's remit was to steady the ship and save the Swans from relegation (i don't want to get into the debate re the rights and wrongs of ML's departure - rightly or wrongly, the Board decided that was the way to go). He delivered on that. However, is he the guy to take us forward - I'm not so sure.

If he is appointed, then he will have my 100% support.

I also joined in the muted appreciation ( and thats how I honestly describe it ) the players couldn't wait to get off the pitch & I couldn't wait to join them through the exit .The atmosphere though not toxic wasn't the greatest and I'm afraid the most common comment was "do they really deserve a round of applause " .I've booked for Sunderland but I'm really considering losing £50 and not going rather than going to watch a team who couldn't be arsed yesterday .Sad really .

Agree the atmosphere was a little strange to say the least. I waited for them to start they're lap of honour but for the first time ever decided to leave early through embarrassment. The whole thing was half hearted on both sides to say the least. I will be at Sunderland next Sunday though hoping for improvement I hope to at least see commitment from the team something that was sadly lacking yesterday. Watched arsenal today fully committed to the fans in spite of the fact they have already qualified for the champions league and an FA cup final in 2 weeks time.

A bit premature i think on how monk will do next season by many on here. None of us know so stop pretending you do. The club are the ones who decide and not any of us and if they see fit to give monk a go who are we to say any different. Nobody on here can say how well or how bad monk will be so its pointless surmising as if you do know. What right have you or me to slag monk off before he has had a go, The club has made a decision and that's that, there is nothing you or me can do about it other than turn your back on the club and guys that's your choice. I don't know like everyone else if monk will be any good but i wont condemn the guy until he has had a chance from the start, good luck to him i hope he is a success...

He has already had a go, a third of a season to have a go, and indications are he is able to deliver a 40-45 point season. He SHOULD be able to keep us up next season but it's about time we were achieving a 50-point season in the PL. That is probably beyond him at present.

We cant really judge him on the difficult circumstances he was about to undertake. The matches we had coming up would have frightened any new manager. He took over with one purpose and that was to stop the rot and get us safe and he did that with two games to spare. I would say that was job done and a very good effort under the circumstances we were in.... Next season we start on a level playing field with no extra matches to worry about and there is not a single fan who can say how we will do next season, not even if your related to mystic meg...<ok>

But you judged Laudrup on even harsher circumstances - depleted squad, more matches per week, tougher opposition.

Monk took over with a full squad, lighter fixture load, and against lower level teams. He was babied into the role as much as it could possibly be done.

If monk is going to be a manager then he can't be "frightened" by what he has to face. He has to deliver regardless at the level required.

You are a walking, too much talking, irrational contradiction.

Monk had to play Napoli twice, Everton twice, a derby game, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Not to mention Palace who I was the only one saying they were on amazing form and others here scoffed at the result but hey, they are 11th, not bad for a team who were last at Xmas!

    Your argument makes zero sense.

The result against palace was a shambles, not because of the result itself, but the performance. There has since been illness as a reason for that sub par performance.

Also no reply regarding my state of delusion?

The more I think of it, after seeing what Mark Hughes has done at Stoke, I wouldn't mind seeing him here. He'd also sort out any players on a power trip too.

    1. Palace have done that to teams way above us in the league and are in blistering form.

    2. I need not answer your questions as they were answered before hand in my previous post and others in reply to the other members.

Palace are the most improved team in the second half of the season. A fantastic turnaround and deserve to be where they are <ok>

Exactly. 20th in January and now pushing for 10th. It's probably irrelevant though because it doesn't help his case.

My argument was that if a person is in a role then they must deliver in that role. There should be no accommodation for who they are or the circumstances. Dai was giving him a pass ("We cant really judge him on the difficult circumstances he was about to undertake. The matches we had coming up would have frightened any new manager"). He's either good enough or he isn't. This is not a ****ing Monk-Charity organization. It is a Prem football club, with big money at stake. He can either do the job or not, and if not, then he should be held accountable and responsible coupled with those that put a novice in the role to start with.

It is absurd to start giving Monk sympathy like this. Your rebuttle makes no sense.

Project I have to disagree with part 1. Palace looked no more than an average to poor PL side. Our performance was an utter shambles and the manager and players should be ashamed of their effort in that game. Saying that i cant remeber palace doing much against us and our keeper having a lot to do. Short of a poor refereeing desicion for the penalty. Palace could have played for another 10 hours and wouldt have scored. Palace still looked on that night one of the poorest teams i had seen at the liberty. mind you they were were in a long list of poor sides.
