So all of a sudden finishing in a CL spot is failure. Who's blaming Everton?, it was in our own hands and now its not and its down to us, plenty of great players don't end up with a league winners medal and load's of ****e players do, that's just the way it is mate.
I doubt any side will invest like we will in the Summer, obviously everyone will do bits and pieces, but for a change im sure well be the biggest PL spenders
When you should win the league of course it is a failure! That's hardly success now is it? Look back there are plenty who are blaming everton on here for rolling over against City.
If you really wanted, you could pick a isolated incident for most players that have played for us this season and blame them, players make mistakes and it doesn't come down to one game.
Well you spent over £70m this season and you still finished 7th, so spending money is no good unless you actually spend it wisely on players that will improve the squad.
Speaking of rolling over, with two games left there's a ****load of penalties to be won. So Nancy Boy will barely be on his feet; as a special gift, the FA have even given you Clattenberg for the occasion tomorrow. So the title's in the bag, there was no need for us to help you. Some of you reds are far too pessimistic.
Is it failure? Yes but not a big one, as you say it's merely based on a change of expectations. It's now no more a failure than to the other team of the three that don't win it, except we were only in year two of three to target 4th!!! More guesses as declarations of truth...that was the declaration about us and fourth this year... United champions Chelsea getting the whiney one back City and Spurs spent big Arsenal finally opening the wallet... We apparently should have made 6th at best.... Now I can't predict what will happen next year....but I do know a lot of these opposition fan declarations about where we will be where utter utter bollox this year..... Oh but we'll be in Europe I hear you say??... We'll also be spending in the summer too....not Chelsea or city big or Spurs big (this year)...United will be chucking money about but then they all did that this year too... So your soothsaying will be taken with the large pinch of salt it requires....
It happens to all blues who realise they have to live on the LFC board to exist...suppose it would be depressing from their point of view...
You're sure about a lot of things that haven't happened and things that you have no proof will ever happen.
Nah I disagree here, your target every year since Rafa's departure or Henry's takeover has been to finish top 4. You've managed that and fair enough. THAT is the absolute minimum a club like Liverpool should be targeting. The 3 year and 5 year plans your PR department has been coming up with for as long as I can remember really are a discredit to the club. This season is all but over and Liverpool have got into the top 4 (you may still win the title), but the thing is, it doesn't establish you as a top 4 club yet. It doesn't place you in a position to be considered likely to finish top 4 next season - like say City or Chelsea. As far as expectations are concerned, realistically it will be City, Chelsea, Arsenal in any order. The remaining top 4 spot will be fought out between United, Liverpool and possibly one other club depending on their spending.
Many predicted us to finish in 7th or 6th. Even the most optimistic LFC fans were ambitious with dreams of 4th and yet here you are, claiming that a minimum of third (we could still win or get second) will be a failure? You're on a pointless wum mission if you're trying to go down the 'blame Gerrard' route. You're just making yourself look like an idiot. He made a mistake, sure. It wasn't his first and it won't be his last. But f**k me, I'll be made up with third place even. We're not blaming anyone, we're proud of where we'll end up (wherever that might be) with a squad deemed average or over rated by people like yourself prior to the season starting. Go and wonder how Mourinho managed to win nothing with his 500million assembled team and instead, dream of average players like ours.
So I was right, Everton didn't have what it took to beat city. The way the fixtures lay at this point in the season made some of us focus on them doing us a favour - doesn't happen. If we don't win the thing it's down to a mixture of things but as always happens, it's the recent events that get 'blamed'. Our destiny was in our own hands, now it's not .... again. But I'm with Dave, it's not over till it's over And what a tremendous season!
I don't think it's a PR campaign at all. We were 7th not so long ago and nowhere close to CL. We had an awful squad and played dire football at times. Now we're back in the top 4 (maybe higher) in a relatively quick amount of time. We're back to our 'minimum' that a club of our size should be attaining. I don't think it's a discredit. It's a reality check of where our club was/is at. I agree we're not established yet. That's our next goal, to be consistently in the top 4 and improving our squad with the money/standing that gives to attract better players and hopefully challenge on two fronts.
Its the fans of other clubs that weren't good enough that are the ones trying to get a rise out of us, but we know our season has been brilliant and our football superb, we also know what went wrong and why jb but I'm with you mate our season has been truly tremendous.
It (3 year or 5 year plans) has been something that has been said since the days of Houllier and is god awful tbh. It actually sets you back and is unecessary - as this season has shown. Your target every season is top 4 and if you don't get it, that should be seen as failure. Same applies to United, Arsenal (City and Chelsea in the modern era). Since the day Henry took over the aim has been to finish top 4 and rightly so.
Loving the way you're swerving other issues that have affected our quest for the title/top 4 since Houllier Treble.
@RAWK_Meltdown (Everton 2 - 3 Man City) We should request an investigation of match fixing into this. Try and permanently damage their club
