Think many feel the same Bap. Nothing personal and I'm sure he'll be a decent coach one day, but not now, not for us.

Cant argue with that Bap666 , I just think the timing was harsh on Monk , maybe not as harsh as the timing was on Lsudrup but still .....there is so much behind the scene stuff we dont have a clue about ,a fresh manager is probably correct .

Look I dont blame Monk for taking the job, hell, if my boss offered me a promotion I would jump at the chance even if I thought I might not be ready (fake it tilk you make it I say). I just feel the board wanted ML out more than they worried about who was gonna come in. GM was an easy option and they probably thought that with the team we had we could still survive whomever was in charge. Lets be frank, I haven't seen much difference in our style of play post Laudrup nad as for the the players attitude, well it would appear even Monk cant get them to raise their game for a sustained period of time either. So.................

United lost at home today to Sunderland. Poyet (seasoned manager) beat Giggs (rookie player-wanna-be-manager) on his own patch with a squad to choose from that walked away with the prem last season and with a forward like RVP coming off the bench. Honeymoon over. It clearly isn't as easy as it looks .... is it.

By some reports, life for Moyes at United was not unlike life for Laudrup with us - player factions thinking they knew more than the boss.

How many more examples of this same scenario do we have to see to get the point that there is a reason that Clubs with brains don't hire rookie managers especially when they're at the top of the pyramid.

The trouble with the United scenario is that the players probably did know more than Moyes.

Tim Sherewood, Ryan Giggs, OGS and Garry Monk. If the first 3 are not deemed good enough for the challenge why on earth does HJ think that Garry is. Out of all of these Monk is the most inexperienced at this level as both player and coach

Really? I remember game sunder Laudrup where we kept the ball for 3 passes at least.

Tinkering this season will get us relegated next. We need a manager who will bring in better players than we have to develop the style we have had in recent seasons (play a more direct 'English' way with our squad and we'll get hammered) Monk, as much as I like the guy and hope he stays in some capacity, doesn't have what is needed.

The wins against Villa, Newcastle and Norwich were very welcome but we didn't play well for more than 20 minutes in any of those games.

Seems like Monk is getting the job. If he does, Jenkins has sold us down the river. Won't Cardiff just LOVE it when they replace us in the Premier League next season.

Laudrup was sacked because the Board felt that the club ethos was being eroded ,well theres nothing that I've seen recently wouldn't say that the erosion has increased quicker then an ice cap melting .

The best we can hope for guys is that Jenkins has pulled a master stroke and most of us are wrong. I genuinely hope that's the case.

The shame of it - making an appointment of a manager to a team playing in the toughest league in the world and he has to go and get his badges. <doh> Talk about the cheap option. Like most here I'm really concerned that players will be lining up to leave and others just won't want to come here because it's not as if Monk has contacts across Europe. He hasn't. Our Board seems to love the idea of money sloshing around the bank account rather than paying for quality, at least if rumours about Jenkins being unhappy at the Bony deal are to be believed.

If as I suspect an offer comes in for Bony that means we'll make £8m or so on the deal I don't think it'll be resisted. No chance of our Club doing a Suarez and fighting to keep him here as Jenkins will breathe a sigh of relief to get him off the books and he'll be off.

Like you I'll be chuffed to eat my words and be the first in line to say I was wrong but whilst I'm relieved at our survival I can't remember being so downbeat about my Club when looking forward to a new season. :(

Has a player ever successfully taken over as manager in the premier league?
I bet Bony and others have release clauses.
And Matthew - 'Laudrup was sacked because the Board felt that the club ethos was being eroded ,well theres nothing that I've seen recently wouldn't say that the erosion has increased quicker then an ice cap melting .' Too true.

If you can't look forward to another year in the Premier League then obviously you haven't been supporting the Swans for long.

The board are forever preaching this is a club for the fans run by the fans, I've just checked four recent surveys run by swans forums or local press and each one is unanimous in rejecting Monk as our new manager, what makes this bunch so right and the vast majority of us wrong. Pathetic decision which will come back to haunt us.

Monk will start the season as manager and not first team coach, you can bet your life on it so what is the point of slagging him off before he has had a chance from the very beginning to show what he can do. The board and the players have enough confidence in his ability and lets be fair here far better than any of us. All i can see is some fans smarting because i said that monk is to be handed the job and they thought i was mad . Well im afraid to say that monk has the job and i can understand why he has got the job and that dont mean i agree or disagree as i am in the camp of trusting the club and should monk do well i will be chuffed for him but if he dont do well i will be one of the first calling for his head, but until he has had a go then i will give monk my 100% support...
