I agree that we have plenty of goalscorers in our squad with Lambert, Barnard capable of getting 20 goals and Lallana, Chambo and Guly all capable of getting 10 plus goals. However, signing Nicky Maynard would be a real statement of intent and who really knows what budget NA has been given for signing the "quality players added to an already good squad" that he quoted at the end of the season. I'm not saying the signing will happen, but I will be bloody happy if it does!
None of those players mentioned above will score m,any if the midfield doesn't come up to scratch. They need good service and for me CM is our priority.
The way Nigel Adkins was talking it seemed like he was saying that the club wants to add a few quality players, not just one. I think that we will sign at least 3 players that will be challenging for a first team place, but that is just my opinion.
Neither Lallana or Chamberlain are particularly adept defensively, so we may want to go for a 433 or 4231 with them 2 as wingers. What we have now is effectively a 424 and I'm not sure we'd get away with that in the NPC. Teams won't be parking the bus and we can't rely on the defence and CMs to get time on the ball.
We are certainly ambitious in our targets, but it means they are wanted by other teams as well. I reckon we want to spend 2-3 million in total so I can't see us getting one of the top targets. Perhaps NC is waiting till everyone is spent up and we're the only buyer in town. On a side issue I just want to repeat that I hate technology. Been unable to get my computer to work all day even though I did the right things: pulling the plug out, shouting, swearing and shaking both the computer and BT hub. If I find out that you lot have been sticking pins in a picture of my computer, well I won't answer for what I'll do (but lets just say there isn't a 'smiley' for it). But now I'm back!
I know what NA said in his final interview before the end of the season. He gave every indication that he wanted to bring in some quality players. However any player at this level unless on a Bosman free will be expensive. You are not going to get top class players on the cheap. So it could be he is having difficulty actually getting his targets because they are being Priced out of his budget....who knows? It does seem strange that there has been no leaks or strong speculation. Perhaps NC is the stumbling block could be his lack of experience is a problem....again who knows?
I think NC doesn't like to overspend or be taken for a ride, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet. I like to dream that one day we will wake up to see 3 smiling new faces holding aloft their new kits in a photo on the OS. A girl can dream, can't she?
Absolutely Fran....Mind you it will cause quite a stir them holding there new kits aloft.............I think perhaps they might feel more comfortable actually wearing them..........
You can if you know the right people in the right places. Marquee signings of players we have all heard of will be expensive, but fortunately we won't have to be making too many of those.

The difference between us and Pompey is fairly big. We have owners that are interested in the club and are keen to make the project a success. They are prepared for their business to foot the bill so sven can have his "unlimited" budhet. Thry understand that it isnt feasible to keep spending and they want it run like a busniess. They grew their comapny over 15 years and it is now worth a couple of billion. They have appointed the board from their business to do the behind the scenes bit and real footballing people to sort out any signings and stuff. Theyre also in it to publicise their company and football all over asia. They are setting up academies aswell as taking us on tours their. Also the Real Madrid friendly is a good example of their abilities. They had to pay 1mil to get them here but understood that when they sell the tv rights, merchandise and tickets that theyll make a profit aswell as entertaining fans with ronaldo and kaka. Also they entered us into an U23s league with barca, inter, ajax and others as they knew it would genrate more revenue than reserve games, attract foreigners and please the fans. Don't see anything wrong with the acquisition of a player who can score over 20 goals in a season in the Premiership.
I can't get too outraged about teams trying to 'buy' the Premier League. In varying degrees, don't all teams try to buy success.
