Dorus always plays these little games, I'm sure he'll sign, but if he doesn't, no big deal, he may be a great shot stopper, but he hardly commands his own box!!............. please log in to view this image
Now i may be thinking above our station. But if Mr De Vries continues to play games. I believe a cheeky bid for mr Shay Given should be on the cards. Man city want rid of him. I believe there is interest from north of the border. But a chance in the prem, may be of interest to him. And before people say he is getting on. still has a couple of seasons in him at least.
Shay Given is a great shout but even if Man C don't want that much in transfer fee I can imagine we wouldn't offer him anywhere near as much as he would demand in wages. I like the sound of the polish (?) lad. If Chelsea are interested in him he must have something special as we are all more than aware of these Chelsea youngsters are capable of I'm sure De Vries will sign though as it's only wolves showing an interest it appears. Mcarthy has just got rid of his 2 bench warming keepers which i think is a clear indication that Hennesey is going to be their number one this season so it's clear Doris would only likely be a bench warmer plus they are likely to be amongst those fighting for survival so I can't understand the attraction. If a mid to upper prem team offer him a huge contract or guarantees him the number 1 slot that he can go with a thanks and a pat on the back for his services and then we find a better keeper
Trundle you read my mind, only thinking about Shay Given today, great keeper!! I like most get feed up with this contract lark. We have offered a very good contract, yes Wolves will pay more but is he better than Hennesey?? Any club in there right mind other than the big boys would build into a contract a contingency for relegation, they would be mad not to do it. Any way my thoughts are there's the contract you have till Friday to sign it or we will withdraw it.
Marcus hahnnemann and Adrianno Basso available, both solid keepers. What about Marshall of Cardiff ? He faded off the scene due to injury but a good keeper
Yes, it seems we are all agreed that it is utterly stupid not to have a clause in the contract, just in case we get relegated. I think Ivor sums up the situation very clearly. Once he`s back give him his options, if he`s not happy then bye bye.
its been known for a long time that he is looking for a move so im not surprised one bit. wolves can offer him more wages than us and thats a main factor also with it being announced that we are after an international goalkeeper then i knew it wont be long before the transfer of dorus would be up and running. we can do with a couple of top quality goalkeepers anyway if dorus decides to go for the money then i will not slag him off as he has given us a few great seasons over the years and we will replace him with not to much bother.....
Dorus has been great for us but were in the big pond now, time to get a bit ruthless with any dithering by anyone told to take it or leave it with a short decision time gives us more time to sort out the A team while weve got weeks not days to play with to do the shopping around. Iff as i hope he chooses to stay then another quality keeper to push him for a start would be a good move. And stop contracts running down on our better players without making any money out of them from robbinson a few years ago to pratts etc..Now . Ruthless or just good business sense ?. This club will soldier on after this season ends regardless of where we are in the league so all eventualities should be planned for including the academy as a mid to high priority .
its a farce that players expect to keep their premiship wage if religated, look at Hull, and Bullard 45k a week hes on, with 2yrs left to run, so no club will touch him and hull cant afford to keep him. Yakubu signing to Leicester hit the rocks as he wants his 35k a week to sign there its a joke. what motivation does it give to players who knows weather they go down or not they are laughing, simply to lazy to fighter extra 110% to keep their wages
Cant see DDV keeping as many clean sheets next year with a team that cannot control posession of the ball in the prem. Granted, we don't know if we can yet , but we already know that wolves cannot and also will not want him playing out from the back (one of his two strengths). Sometimes players do not know what they have here with our system til it's gone, ala Trundle, Robinson, Scotland, Gomez, Britton and the soon to find out Pratley and possibly DDV/Taylor. DDV - Sign next week or kindly **** off and allow us to build asap but don't play us like fools (oh, and thanks for the great service)
I wouldn't worry too much about possession and clean sheets. He's spend the majority of his time warming the bench.
I cant get my head around why he would want to warm a bench when he would be first choice here. It can be nothing more than money imo. like the rest he will go for the money only for career to stall. join the long list of our former players who have found that out.
What I find difficult, is that all the players have worked hard to eventually get us into the Premier League, been through the tough times etc then get there head turned by another club when we get there. Pratley comes down the league gets two promotions, then decides he needs a new challenge. Yes I know someone will give him a nice fat paycheck plus a health signing on fee, but if they play well and have a good season and we do go down then there stock value would rise. A good example is Blackpool's Charlie Adam.Grass isn't always greener!!!
What's so difficult to understand? If Pratley is getting offers from mid-table premier league clubs then he will take them, he could stay with us yes but given he wasn't a regular at the end of the season is he really likely to increase his stock by staying with us? He might never get another offer like this again if he has a poor season this time around. Dorus is a little more iffy because he is unlikely to force himself into a starting role elsewhere. Perhaps he fancies himself displacing Hennessey (not a bad shout considering Hahnemann did it).
DdV is just after the money isn't he? He's messed us about like this every time his contract has come up for renewal. On previous occasions he's acquiesced in the end and signed on the dotted line, so I'm still hoping it'll be the same outcome this time around too. TBH he'd be barking to leave - every single player (apart from Sam Ricketts) who's left us in the last 8 years has seen their career fall off the edge of a cliff - the Pie Man, Trundle, Leon (until he came back smart-ish), Jason Scotland, Gomez, Bessone, Martinez!
come on these players like pratley and dorus we knew that they are itching to move, they have been for a couple of seasons and will go to whoever pays them the most on a contract that they are in control of, i dont think they would care to much if they are bench warmers or not as long as the money is right. they have fulfilled their contracts and helped to get us to the premiership and now their job is done they want more money and will go to whoever will pay the most. i would do the same at the end of the day as its just a job and if another team is willing to pay more than us then thats the way it is.....
Let's look at this from a club centric position - we are about to enter the best the league in the world with a bunch of players that we acquired in L1 and L2 as key members of last seadon's squad. This is not a recipe for success. Exactly how much more up side is left in these players if any at all - and I am talking DDV, DP, AR, Monk, Tate et al. 30 years ago we gained promotion with the core of the squad consisting of players with proven top flight experience and strengthened from there during the summer - Latchford, Irwin, Davies etc. This time time we lack that proven core. Trying to be objective about this, the fact that players are leaving of their own accord is probably a good thing as it forces us to upgrade. Standing by favorites and players that got us here is a grand gesture but not necessarily in our best interests. Vulture agents being true to form is probably going to work to our benefit if we can land the types of replacements that the club is reported to be after ..... Lita though I don't understand.
Have no problem with him leaving as long as we sign Sandomerski...younger and better (hopefully). DdV left as he would get more as a bench warmer for Wolves than he would for us. And considering that in small corners his name was gettin banded around for an international appearance i think the slim chance of that happening has well and truely dissappeared now...unless Wolves pull off a miracle and finish in the top 6 and DdV takes over Hennessey at number one...both of which i think the majority will agree just aint gonna happen
