But their rivals have if they allow a team with such a weak defence to prevail.

Whether or not they are proved to be the best this season, their Achilles heel has not been exposed as ruthlessly as it would have been in seasons past. They have been fortunate that many of the leading sides have been unsettled with major changes taking place within each club. To rise from 7th to (potentially) 1st in a single season is unheard of in recent times, especially by a club with a waek defence, young and inexperienced players and a squad thin on numbers. I can't think the strong Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea teams of the past 20 years would have given them a sniff.

So you reckon the points margin Utd had after the last game of last season was a sign of how good Utd were or is the league only weak this season because we're doing better than Utd and better than you wanted and expected?

No doubt you'll bring the Moyes factor into play as an excuse for your clubs piss poor season, to go from champions to 7th in one season is also as rare as rocking horse ****e but its happened(so far), we've conceded around 5 more than the reigning champions, not bad for a manager in his job for only two seasons compared to the chosen one's 13.

Utd didn't have a challenger last season. City underperformed and the rest were nowhere near consistent enough. But in almost every other season in recent memory there have been two or more contenders who have been strong in every aspect of the game and have had strength in depth. It's rare that the champions have anything other than the best or nearly the best defence. The stats about Utd are misleading - the title was won early and the 5-5 at WBA on the final day was like a testimonial. When have the champions conceded more than mid-table or bottom half teams?

Liverpool are far from the finished article. The team/squad is still a work in progress. To challenge so well this season is down to the rest being off the usual pace. City should have romped it, but have been inconsistent at times and are easily blown off course by the absence of Kompany or Toure or Aguero. They have the best team from one to eleven and the best squad. You might take encouragement from the likelihood that your team should get better, especially if you keep Suarez, prolong Gerrard's career at the top level and bring in a top class defender or two.

  4. I've said it before, but next season LFC is going to get humiliated in the CL and finish back behind Everton.

There are too many teams that are better than 'Pool that are going to get their acts together during the Summer.

The collapse under Rodgers is going to be more comical than it was under Coco.

After "small club" Spurs, "temporary blip" blah blah blah, 4 seasons running,
HIAG prophecy is first-timer by comparison. :D

Now be fair señor, I never bite I just reciprocate the banter with banter, but HIAG's predictions have a habit of coming back and biting him on the gluteus maximus which is great news for us next season.

But check his form with predictions regarding us, Suarez signed a new contract and stayed, Spurs weren't nailed on to finish above us, Everton never got a top 4 spot at our expense, Suarez did win the POTY and many more.

    Cheers HIAG.<ok>

HIAG is incapable of making serious predictions. Hence he bottled out of both prediction leagues early, presumably he couldn't decide whether to do them as wums or to do them serious. He presumably has a serious side? Doesn't he...?

And you also never got relegated last season.

It's pretty obvious HIAG makes his predictions for his own amusement at the outraged reactions. Also it's a bit rich for Liverpool fans to start getting all high and mighty about predictions after one season. Every time we've had a Liverpool thread on this board it's been full of your lot irate at our unwillingness to accept that you are by far the better team and claiming you will be back in your "rightful place" above us and in the top 4 by the end of the season. Getting it right 1 season out of 5 isn't exactly a great record either.

Ah come on YV(never call you "yid" because it feels inappropriate)but HIAG is good for the site and good fun tbf, I used to bite but its just banter and never nasty, and to be honest I used to think your board was a closed shop compared to others but there's a lot of good posters on here(including you Luke.<whistle>), hope it remains that way tbh because certain people on certain boards have used certain events to get a cheap dig at us this season(you know what I mean mate), let's hope both clubs do better next season.

    Us champions and Spurs 4th.<whistle>

With Chadlinho and Kanealdo more settled in the side, next season everyone else will be playing for second.

I said many times in this thread that it was going to be a complete nightmare if you finished above us but the vast majority of Liverpool fans coming on here have been good for a bit of banter and nothing more. I just feel that pulling up HIAG on his predictions is missing the point a bit. Although compared to the Arsenal fans he gets a lot less bites from you lot and at least none of you have resorted to stalking him :D

As for calling me "Yid", I agree and I much prefer "YV", or even "Yid Vicious". Out of context of the pun in my name, or a Spurs context like calling me a "Yiddo", or talking about the "Yid Army" it does make me cringe a bit when I get called it. I've been meaning to change my name for awhile but never really got around to it. A job for the summer, I think.

I don't often read/post on this thread- but I frequently get a laugh out of HIAG because I think he is throwing everyone for a loop and I will make a prediction of my own.

One day, HIAG will admit to being a gooner. He's trying to wind up Liverpool fans, but at the same time, he's also slyly winding up Spurs by making Spurs fans look like idiots.

He's a lot more clever than he appears and he's having a laugh at the expense of both sets of fans. Once you realise this, it looks very obvious looking at some of his posts. It's a brilliant parody account.
