Great OP, thanks. The line of those with 2 year contracts is impressive and forms the backbone of a team that might have a half chance at the bottom of the PL. Alternatively it should do well enough for top six again next season in the SBC.
A few points of clarification Firstly SWP, I thought he came on a 3 year contract in 2011, so unless some insane bastard has extended his contract his time is up is up at the end of the season. To those of you saying he has another year left, for the love of god say this is not so.. please... On the subject of Kranjcar - i don't think he can stay another season on loan, he has two years left on his contract with Kyiv and his valuation would be proper money which i don't think we would stretch to although i would like him to stay at the right price. Dunne - point here is no matter how crocked/old he is, he has one year left and its not like we could sell him so we may as well get what we can out of him next season even if its sporadic appearances, although if we do go up it not going to be pretty watching him trying to keep up with Theo Walcott... And as for the sling em all out and start again plan, Peter you don't mean it well not quite all of them anyway.
First and foremost, a great OP and thread Here's my crack at it; Under contract Dunne - Signed a 1 year extension anyway, KEEP Henry - KEEP for 1 year Barton - KEEP Mbia - SELL Taarabt - SELL Granero - SELL Remy - SELL Diakite - SELL Cesar - SELL Austin - KEEP Onouha - KEEP Suk Young - KEEP Simpson - KEEP M.Phillips - KEEP Hoillet - KEEP Out of contract Green - Release Hill - Release Hughes - KEEP for 1 year Traore - KEEP L.Young - Release Jenas - Release Faurlin - KEEP O'Neill - Release Ephraim - Release Benayoun - Release AJ - Release Zamora - Release Park JS - Release Loan Players Ravel Morrison - Sign if possible Carroll - Send back Keane - Send back Krancjar - Send back BAE - Send back Doyle - Sign (but only on reduced wages)
Definitely depends what league we're in. Certainly wouldn't pay £60k a week or whatever it is to keep Green so would have to drop his salary demands alongside quite a few others.
We get up you will all see a shake up ... This squad has been put together to get back up ... expect a new one if we do
No, Hughes has been a Premier League CB for the vast majority of his career and is a better defender than Clint Hill. Although he's been a great servant, enough is enough with respect to him starting every game. I would almost certainly sign a younger CB to partner Onouha long term, with Donaldson getting some experience as well.
It's tough and like many have said it's dependent on what league we're playing in next season. I would rather bring in younger, hungrier players with points to prove.
Green - go, never makes any saves Hill - Keep Hughes - Go Traore - go, not because of his play but because of injuries Young - Go Jenas - go Faurlin - Keep on a payp deal O'neil - Go Ephraim - Go Wright-Phillips - Go Benayoun - go Johnson - Go Zamora - Go Park - Go Murphy - go Dunne - go Henry - Go Barton - Keep Mbia - Go That makes 16 outs not including Remy and taarabt which is a massive job. TF has his biggest decision so far at QPR in appointing a new manager.
My views: Under contract Dunne - KEEP: his legs seem to have gone but he'd be useful cover. Henry - KEEP: useful guy to have in the squad Barton - KEEP: was heading for my POTY vote earlier in the season, gone off a bit since. Mbia - SELL: he didn't work out for us last time round and, in any case, he wouldn't want to play for us again Taarabt - SELL (sadly): he wouldn't want to play for us again Granero - SELL: huge disappointment Remy - SELL (sadly): cash in, he wouldn't want to play for us again Diakite - SELL: unfulfilled talent who can't even get in Watford's team Cesar - SELL: too expensive and he lost interest a long time ago Austin - KEEP Onouha - KEEP: could be our first choice centre back for a few years Suk Young - KEEP Simpson - KEEP: been very solid M.Phillips - KEEP: looked very exciting once he got fit and until he got injured Hoillet - KEEP, always looks a threat even if end product often disappointing Out of contract Green - KEEP: one or two blemishes but mostly been good for us Hill - KEEP: useful squad player who, yet again, might get more games than we predict Hughes - KEEP for squad Traore - KEEP: has looked good on a number of occasions and was deservedly POTM a little while back L.Young - Release Jenas - Release: looked decent more recently but too injury prone. Faurlin - KEEP O'Neill - Release Ephraim - Release Benayoun - KEEP if wages sensible: he's improved a lot since he first arrived (faint praise?) AJ - Release: works hard but never going to score a goal, especially if he's on the treatment table Zamora - Release: recent performances don't really make up for his earlier disinterest. Park JS - Release: has never done anything for us. Loan Players Ravel Morrison - Sign if possible Carroll - KEEP: appears less immediately gifted than Harry suggested but could still come good Keane - Send back: Wigan didn't keep him; now we know why Krancjar - KEEP if fee/wages sensible: fat bloke who adds some much needed creativity but he needs to get fit BAE - Send back: too casual, wrong attitude Doyle - Sign (but only on reduced wages)
Alright Flyer Barton - Keep???? Are you going to change your sig then? Or is this a morality v football dilemma...
With the emphasis on 'has been' I assume. Clint Hill has been a stalwart and top defender for QPR for four seasons, was the lynch pin of the back line that broke the club record for clean sheets in the current season, shows no sign of falling standards and and if there is any justice should receive POTY. Obviously it's the right time to ditch him and instead keep yet another over the hill 'Premier League' player looking for a retirement bonus.
He's under contract so I didn't have to make a decision. It is a dilemma, he's a decent player but massively overpaid, he'd have to accept 20k a week to be in the keep category. Even then I wouldn't want him but think it would be best for the club.
Really?? Oh come on... this is just plain wrong - sometimes I agree with you and others not - but this is an utterly ludicrous statement - I really think you should reconsider.
He shows signs of declining ability every season he gets older. He was protected earlier on this season by a defensive midfield at the best of times which can make any defender look better than what they are. His performance against Bournemouth summarised he's not going to get any better. I don't disagree with the fact he's been a great servant to this club, and I certainly wouldn't oppose him being a coach here but his time on the playing field is done. If we were to go up to the Prem Hughes is a much better choice for a squad place.
So its 'Barton Out! (when his contract expires unless he agrees to lower wages and then he can stay for the good of the club but i still don't like him)' maybe that is a little bit too long for your signature... Are we all in agreement yet that the SWP saga finally reaches it long and sorry end at the end of this season? I'm still panicking as to why the others think he still has a year to go. What if they are right
