............however unlikely it may seem, we should manage a win at Newcastle?

Then on the same weekend........

Sunderland lose at Man U - Norwich lose at Chelsea - Fulham lose at Stoke...a reasonable scenario don't you think?.....<whistle>

Sunderland's midweek game in hand is Brom at the SOL up next, and fair play, we should expect them to win that.

That would leave the final games for each club to go with the points standing looking like: -

Sunderland....35
City..............33
Norwich........32
Fulham.........31

Now if the Jacks did the decent thing and did a job at Sunderland on the last day for us, we'd only have to beat Chelsea to stay up.............<laugh>
 
It could be considered possible Sparks but there's an awful lot of ifs and maybes in there.

With the exception of West Brom's game at Sunderland everything would have to fall into place for us to stay up, not least of which is us actually winning 2 games.
After yesterday's abject performance that is probably the most unlikely part of the scenario.

Now Arsenal could give Newcastle a real stuffing tonight which would leave the Geordie's way down in the dumps and ripe for us on Saturday if OGS can lift the troops. Would be nice if Remy picked up a red card along the way.

However, then to beat Chelski? When Liverpool failed yesterday. Chelski could field their third team and beat us on our form yesterday.

On balance Sparks, I think you may have been at Pandy's tin. <whistle>

I feel as down as when.......well you know our record in recent years apart from last season.

But just a realist Sparks.

No rope left in Bridgend anyway but plenty of other options though.

But what the heck, there's always next season and the World Cup to look forward to. It'll take for than a crap 10 months with CCFC for me to ponder the imponderable. <ok>
 
You can't be down when you're 2 points from safety with 6 to play for BUT as Blue says the nature of that performance suggests that 3 points are too many to ask for whereas 6 is completely unrealistic.

46 days till me and the Mrs leave for Rio, not that I'm counting <whistle>

Positives for Cardiff are that

1 - No one enjoyed this season anyway
2 - We should almost certainly still have a club to support in August (not a given in many previous seasons)
3 - We're going to try a play our way out of the Championship (whether it works or not)
4 - We can have at least a season avoiding the pricks on MOTD slagging the **** out of us.
5 - Most of our players haven't been good enough for the PL to want them..... (that ones a little bitter/sweet)


PS - We're not down yet either..........
 
.............and another thing, Villa could lose all their last three games and we overtake them on the last day.

.............also Arsenal could beat West Brom 35-0 on the weekend and then lose their last two games by the odd goal - that would also do it.

Thing is though Sparks, we've been down and out about 5 times already. We've failed to win so many MUST WIN home matches we should be already confirmed mathematically. We're not and if we beat Newcastle and other results go our way then it's all about the final day.

I'm sure we'll be playing 2nd tier football next season but it's not over yet. Whether the thread is serious or not the point it makes is valid..... if unrealistic <laugh>

Careful now oldsparkey. When I mentioned this scenario a week ago you said we were 'chortling' at Cardiff's expense. Can't remember who said that though <whistle> Most Swans fans in a poll would want us to go and win so just thought you'd like to know. You do realise we'd never let you live it down don't you? <laugh>
 
Dragonborn - it's one thing "chortling" at oneselves, quite another when doing it to others - but you knew that anyway didn't you.........<laugh>

As for never living it down, we might even stop baiting you about going bust twice to call it quits.......<laugh> <ok>

It's been a tough one for both Welsh clubs this season, with us being stretched with our European adventure and injuries, and you boys having a reality check of how unforgiving this league is, but on a serious note, you now know what is required to hack it at this level, and I'm sure with the parachute payments you'll regroup and give it a better go next time!...........<ok>
