Fingers crossed (although Dani will always be the very epitome of 'what if' for me).

Krul considering Newcastle future - what are our chances?

But Rob Elliot was mentioned the other day and someone said he wouldn't want to be no. 2 to Boruc. I don't think Tim Krul would want to be second choice either.

If we went for Krul or Begovic I can see Boruc leaving.

Why are people assuming Boruc will be number 1 next season? I don't think he will be.

As a tangential observation, I doubt Boruc would be keen to stick around if he wasn't.

I'm not totally sure Boruc will be number 1 but as others have said he probably won't want to be backup. He's a perfectly good Premier League keeper and I can see us focusing our spending on the other areas of the squad that need addressing more urgently (centre back, striker, attacking midfield, maybe left back).

And is pretty much in line with the "ITK" stuff we've been hearing for weeks, how about that?

Feels like Chambo to me. Disappointing, but generally a fair deal to all involved.

Not the end of the world if true. We get a hell of a lot of money for him. I wouldn't be too disappointed if Shaw left this summer as he would be off sooner rather than later anyway. If it was Lallana I would be gutted.

If it's true, I don't think it's a smart move on our behalf at all. The board will have to spin this extremely well, and invest all the money in new signings, or lots of people are going to feel extremely disillusioned by it.

I'm sold, from now on I'm getting all my news from some guy on an internet forum.

Would make the new administration look pretty ****ty though, trumpeting about how we don't need to sell and then flogging the current crown jewel of the academy. I imagine a fair few would be pissed.

The key thing will be Shaw himself. If he wants to go, if his family want him to or whatever, then all the club can really do is get the most money possible for him. There is no point having a player around who doesn't want to play for the club, and would rather be at a 'bigger' club. It would be disappointing as I would hope he would stick around with the club a bit longer after what the club, and the coaches have done for his development. But, it is up to him, and £30m would be good money for him.
