I've been saying this for ages. He is not only a great CB, he is a potential leader. Knows when to move forward out of defence and set up an attack, and when to be back behind the ball defending to the death. He is captain of the England U21's I believe, so if he isn't picked this time, in Euro 2016 he will be a shoe-in.
am I the only one that is getting excited by potential young team England could field in the Euros ´16 ? All we will need is a manager willing to play them
We can forget the WC, but I am more hopeful for Euro 16. Hodgson seems willing to look at young players (aka SFC). All being well, we could have a good England side for the next ten years...give them a chance and stick with them.
Well Roy wont but yes we have some top talent coming through for the first time in a while. Adam can be daddy!

I disagree, Lambie....Hodgson has proved willing to try new players (admittedly sometimes it has been forced on him). Any manager looking at Saints so regularly is okay in my book.
I am guilty of allowing myself a glimmer of hope about the current spurt of young English players coming through, but then I realise the harsh reality is that they will all fail just as badly for the national team as the last lot and be played in restrictive and ugly systems that don't allow them to fulfil their potential. But maybe I'm just a pessimist. At this stage I'm completely accepting of the fact that we are not a major force on the international stage, I'd just like us to open up and try and play attractive, attacking football. Unfortunately managers want to keep their jobs so the aim of the game is to lose as little as posible.
Everton. Anyone remember when we last beat them? Went to the game just after Christmas. After Gaston scored, the force seemed to be with us and then Lukaku happened. I have only once seen us beat them - 1974 and we got relegated the same day. There was the total battering we gave them last year that ended 0-0 and of course the infamous Bent equaliser in the 144th minute (felt like that to me) at SMS when we'd bossed it and went on to get relegated (again). We deserve a break. OK, this is not a rational plea, but rationality goes out the window. Even if Liverpool win the title, I do still hold a few crumbs of bragging rights with Reds. But with the Blues? Zilch. I'll take a draw, I'm not being greedy, but the memory of Lukaku terrifying our defence last year when we played WBA still haunts me. Come on, football gods, make my journey home a cheery one.
OK with 3 games left to go should we see more youngsters get PL debuts? I don't mean 5 mins appearances but decent 30 minute stints or even starts for some? Targett, Turnbull, Reed and McQueen have all been training with the first team and the latter 2 have been in the match day squad or had a debut of sorts but why not full blown chances for all four to show what they are capable of? Would you leave it for the Swansea game or let them have a go at Everton or Man Utd?
