Managed to finally lay the laminate flooring in the hall. Been putting it off for over a year dye to having 8 doorways to get round and the last wall looking like a banana. But..... please log in to view this image Well chuffed, living room next in summer hols. On separate note I hurt places I didn't know could hurt today lol
Cheeky bastards lol. Do you want a really good laugh? Ripped carpet up which was here when we moved in. Got to front door, couldn't move it so lifted the big brass plates up and.. When they'd fitted upvc front door they poured to concrete down for it over the top of the carpet and further along there's concrete just a gap and weight of door is being held up by plastic wedges
Nah luckily their mess doesn't interfere with the line the planks go up to so it's all done. Wife can do the quadrant next week when me& kids are back at school
Wooden or laminate flooring around doors is a painstaking job, measure thrice, cut once! Hopefully! Glad to see your more positive and things are going better for you Rich.
Thanks guys, yeah I'm really pleased with it. Me & wife did it together worked quite well too. Managed to do it in a day really hard work with 8 doorways :O Bought my first workbench to do it b&q £17.99 So much nicer now what with the dog shedding fur everywhere
Great job Rich, but speaking as a pro the boards should always run the length of the room not width, it gives the appearance of making the room bigger.
Yup understand that mate but would've meant splitting lots of planks along their long edge and that's the same way we have the bedroom laminate so marries up to that nicely and when living room is done that will be laid that way too owing to the room shape, so doing the way you suggest just would not have been practical given those restraints. We did look at doing it that way but cutting whole planks with a jigsaw, I'd have been there all day and the long cuts would've looked awful as can't do long straight lines lol This way I only had to cut one plank along its long edge. Not too worried about making the room look bigger as it does having got rid of dark red carpet which made the place v dingy. I'm just glad it's done Pmsl and only had to go buy one pack of laminate in the end and managed to colour match it yo the stuff we've had in garage for years too lol
