have we seen the last of the 'clappers'?, i think after the majority of them getting used as missile's the last home game i would be surprised if they came out again this season... what else could they be replaced with?
It's the optimist thread I don't get why you feel the need to install realism you wouldn't go on a forum for ppl suffering clinical depression and tell them to cheer up. We all have opinions and they're equally valid but the thread does what it says on the tin so I don't feel why you need to force your realism on us? Not being rude but I don't get it
Nothing. I've every confidence that the Norwich fans will get behind the team and create a really good atmosphere and generate plenty of noise.
You'd hope it'd be all hands to the pump and everyone will be behind the team. Gotta give them a big boost. Can't get on their backs if they misplace a few passes. Confidence is far too fragile for any negativity at the moment.
Yep. That includes RvW. Poor bloke after he did that embarrassing lay-off to thin air - could have happened to anyone, but he does it and then got groans every time he touched the ball. No wonder he didn't come over to us like Snodders, etc. Utterly deflated. And he'd worked desperately hard, connected well a couple of times and had generally had one of his best games for us. Theirs were those blow up tubes, I think
Sorry Rob, but I've been watching the game for 30+ years and in all that time I don't think I've ever seen anyone do anything quite like that in a match before, it was quite frankly unbelievable and I was very surprised that MOTD didn't pick up on it as another stick to beat him with. And it's not as if it was a mere blip in an otherwise excellent season for him - he has been absolute crap from start to finish - so I'm not the slightest bit surprised that there are moans and groans aimed at him by now. He's a joke player in my opinion, and on the basis of this season he has to be one of the the worst Premiership signings of all-time, particularly when you consider how much he cost a club the size of ours. Shocking signing, absolutely bloody awful
I'm surprised you say that - I have seen quite a few "passes to no-one". Not literally the same position as this, but they definitely happen relatively frequently. This wasn't a badly misplaced pass or anything - it was quite clear he assumed he had got a call, and it was exactly where a winger/fullback would normally be. It's a tricky one - it's a different sort of error. I'm not saying it's unusual, but you must have seen players pass to where they assume a teammate is, before? I genuinely think they didn't play it on MotD because you look at that and sigh. Do you mean start to finish of this match or the season? As I said, I genuinely believe he had a good match. Not stellar (though stellar by his Norwich performances!!) But definitely decent and but for a fantastic save would have scored and had a normal number of shots for a PL striker. He definitely worked his socks off. I appreciate given his season that my position on RvW is becoming untenable, and I won't disagree that he has had a shocker of a season. But I maintain there is a quality player in there desperate to get out. All he needs is confidence. He's now looking fitter and stronger, getting more involved in the game, but he has the problem that has ruined many a decent prospect and that is he can't keep his chin up. Because of this, and his injury, I am prepared to give him another half season or so, because like Giroud I think he might just come good. Plus I'm terrified he'll set the world alight if we sell him!!
I'm still prepared to think there is a quality player in there. To be fair the poor bloke has had awful service in a team with zero consistency at all. I think if you took him out stuck him as the front man on a team working he'd be a good >10 goals a season forward I feel sorry for the guy he seems to have been sold a pup. I'm prepared to accept I'm wrong but I can't believe a decent player suddenly turns to crap, same with Hooper he's not set the league on fire and I doubt he's turned to crap since arriving either. Let's just hope someone comes good now and we get another season for them to play in the league
Lets put it this way, under the previous regime, not a single striker has had a decent season. Hooper has been the closest with a brief run of goals. Previous to working to Chris Hughton all of the following had reasonable to good goal scoring records Holt RVW Hooper Becchio Morison Now I'm inclined to think that it was no coincidence that on his arrival none have worked out. So a reason to be positive, if our strikers are actually better than Hughton was as a manager, we should see an improvement. I certainly think that the case with Hooper is he will score if given the opportunity. RVW is unfortunately an empty shell at the moment, shot to pieces, there is nothing there to work with at the moment. I seriously hope he can turn it around but I wonder if his career with us is already finished, so in keeping with the thread, perhaps a season in the Championship would give us the player we were hoping for.
Palace beating Everton away tonight, Sunderland drawing away at city and almost winning it. Results can be odd at this end of the season, the Everton result is decent for us in a way that the gunners might have 4th spot secured by the time we play them. It gives me hope anyway. Man Utd will have nothing to play for either. We just need a 2 draws or a win to give us a decent chance of staying up as it would mean WBA, swans and villa having to do something to stay up. I believe.
good set of results tonight, Man city dropping points and also Everton, Liverpool have the title in sight now, yes they will have to beat us saturday no matter but it helps put the pressure on them now being at the top and its theres for the taking (or to lose), it will only add pressure and maybe they could slip up this weekend? heres hoping. Everton losing helps to keep Arsenal in the CL 4th position, hopefully by the last game they are confirmed and will be on the beach with the cup final to play the following week. Every little helps as they say
