Huddlestone suddenly thinking that he's Yaya Toure, on the way to the FA Cup Final yesterday: Come on, Hull Hotspur! Post-match interview: "It'd be nice to stop them winning anything, again."
Don't know, but I do know what it would mean... 20 more years of dull "glory day" stories from Mousers, up and down the land, and endless bullshit from Mouser TV pundits and the Mouser-loving media.
That Huddlestone goal looks like it's in slow motion. I'd like to say we won't let him wander in like that but this is Arsenal I'm talking about...
City could still win it, SD, I agree. Lesser of three evils? Liverpool have 18 titles, Utd 20 - so no!
The mousers will rightly so be making life unbearable for other fans if they claim the title but taking away the "tit for tat" between us, it must be fantastic to be going to games and seeing Liverpool in the title race, for the mousers, and Gerrard (a player I admire hugely) does deserve to end his career with a title but the worry for them is they haven't had a bad result, surely they are due one bad result? a slip up? if not then they fully deserve to be champions.
Nice to see a strange face as manager Bruce leads his team out at Wembley. He will probably have a smile on his face while the other one will look his usual miserable self as he carries out his water bottles...... Wonder if Sunderland regret waving goodbye to Bruce, now?
Maybe if his family didn't find bullets delivered through their letterbox when he was going to join Chelsea in 2005 he would have won a title by now?
Just curious a second, would you lot rather finish 6th, and have europa league games, or 7th, and no euro commitments?
It makes me laugh. Over on the Gooners' board, they've got a thread running on which all the usual numpties have come out and stated that winning the FA Cup would be a great season for them, even if they finish outside the top 4; and yet, Whinger has stated publicly that failing to finish inside the top 4 would be a disaster for AFC. Those deluded Gooners are going to have a massive shock when they finish 5th (or even 6th), and then discover that it's going to take them a decade to find any kind of consistency to regain a regular place, if indeed they ever manage to play CL footy, again. With Woezil proving to have been a massive failure, AFC is going to find it almost impossible to attract even half decent players, let alone the quality of player they'll need to mount anything other than a very half-arsed challenge for top 4, in the future. Hell, I can even see them ending up paying us top dollar to take the dross that we bought with the Bale money! Winning the FA Cup - which is the same trophy that relegated Wigan won last year - will be scant consolation to Gooners when they are forced to watch their beloved Arsenal fall further and further behind the big boys in the seasons ahead.
Looks like another penalty shootout in the Final....with Wenger shooting himself with a misplaced water bottle!
There are plenty that blame the Europa League, in part, for our failure to qualify for the CL again. Not me though, I'd much rather be in a European competition than not.
I want Europe. With a decent manager and some confidence we should be able to handle the games with the size of our squad
Me too. I don't buy into this "European competition harms league position" theory. League winners are always in Europe. Plus I want to see more Spurs games, not less.
If we want to achieve top four then I believe we have to be out of Europe, its all down to priorities, especially when the challenge for top four is getting harder each year. Avb tried to take both serious and the failure to prioritise the league campaign was one of the reasons we blew that 7 point lead over the goons and fell out of the top four. Plus there have been a few studies to back up the view that Europa League impacts a teams league campaign so as people love stats then you can't really ignore them http://www.totalfootballmag.com/fea...arry-redknapps-europa-league-rotation-policy/ Then you have this indepth study http://5addedminutes.com/2012/09/24/the-europa-league-and-the-thursday-night-effect/ please log in to view this image When Bentinez won the Europa league with Chelsea, he prioritised that over the league campaign, some say just so he could add to his personal achievements as he knew he was leaving next season to be replaced by Mourinho, but he made winning the EL a priority. ...Anyway just my view but shared by others and I would rather we have a season of no Europa league football so we can focus fully on the league and getting back into the champions league.
what is the point in qualifying for the CL if we can't handle european matches though? We'll just drop out of it again the season after. It will be fun for a season but then we'll be back where we are now. We need a battle hardened squad that can last the distance is 4-5 comps each season
Being in the CL gives you a bigger budget though. Therefore we can probably add a few players with the income from it. The same isn't true of the Europa.
