Just back from the game, much better effort and dominance than any away game i've been to in a while... That being said, Wolfswinkel is the biggest bottle job of a striker going. I don't care how he runs about and looks to put a shift in, when it matters he bottles getting in the box going one on one with a centre back, taking a chance when in the box, always looking for the easy option.
We're not only missing holt greatly for his ability to get in the box and throw himself at the ball if a chance comes, we've got a striker who would rather wait on the edge of the box motionless than bust a gut and get on the ball.

No it wasn't, it was EXACTLY the bloody same!!
We played decent, not great and not terrible, passed the ball around nicely until we got the final third where we ran out of ideas and didn't know how to break them down, and then we switch off for a moment and concede a sloppy goal through sheer lack of concentration. Substitutions made no difference at all, we fail to raise ourselves to be able to throw the kitchen sink at them and then we lose a game we should definitely have taken something from.
It was exactly the same as so many games this season, which makes me think perhaps it is the players after all.
Totally devoid of ideas when getting into the final third, hence the ball is passed sideways around the area - or, annoyingly, back to one of our CBs in and around the centre circle.
Absolutely zero penetration and as a result we're too easy to defend against. Totally agree with the comment above re: RvW. Biggest damp squib the club has had since David Střihavka

Looking back today, I have to agree that it was amazingly similar to other games this season against not very good sides. We looked the better team, made a few chances (not many but a few), failed to take them, conceded a rather sloppy goal, and then looked increasingly impotent as the match went on.
Having said all that, I did seem to sense (and this is purely impressionistic, I admit, plus, of course, I have to rely on TV or streaming here in Vietnam), I did seem to sense a stronger sense of belief from the team. They didn't seem to totally give up as soon as they went behind. I also broadly agreed with the selection, dropping Gutierrez and Elmander from the sixteen.
Now is when we really test the mettle of Adams. Can he get them believing in themselves after that? All isn't lost by a long way. Fulham were very poor and they may not get more than one win if we can pick something up from one of our games. Cardiff don't seem much better. Villa and West Brom are still in the mix. If Adams can really fire them up, who knows? It's not impossible.

It looked different to me, more actual intent, particularly for an away game.
I agree it was similar to the WBA game in that we created some stuff and looked the better of the two teams while the game was open, conceded a sloppily defended goal and then the opposition shut up shop and we failed to break them down. The difference I'd suggest is that it was a far more positive away performance than we have seen in a while. whilst it seems similar to the WBA game the comparison should be swansea were we were appalling with zero innovation or attacking intend from start to finish. It is an improvement just not enough of one.
This season´s been a mixture of a whole lot of things Munky. Hughton, the coaching staff, McNally , the Board, the players ( not doing their jobs properly, injuries, lack of form) and a section of the home support, will all have a good deal to answer for if we fail to stay up. But one thing you can guarantee, if we do stay up, Adams will get the credit, go down, and Hughton alone will get the blame, but that only tells a small part of the story.
