Who knows, with Liverpool he might have scored a bucket load this season. All I can say with any confidence is that he is not right for us this season.
And are you proud of yourself for standing by someone who was quite obviously not up to the job? Well done. Your loyalty is admirable.
GK OUT (Ruddy) STAY (Bunn) DEFENCE OUT(Bassong) ??? (Turner, Olsson) STAY (Whittaker, Martin, Bennett, Garrido) MIDFIELD OUT (Fer, Redmond) ??? (Pilkington, Snodgrass, Wes, Tettey) STAY (Johnson, Howson, E.Bennett, Surman, Murphy x2, Fox) STRIKE OUT (RvW, Elmander) ??? (Hooper) STAY (Becchio) If we could keep hold of most of the ???, we would be top 3 in Championship
Well the fans hounded Hughton out (maybe if they had stuck behind him we would never have been in this decision) and maybe it wasn't his fault after all?
Good question, yes I genuinely think some players naturally struggle to fit into certain clubs for some bizarre reason, it could be the lifestyle the place or just the nature of the league. RVW's problem was he came in over the summer and starting saying he was going to do this and that etc, confidence is good but don't be too over confident but his unfortunately taken a massive knock due to that.
OK, let's not argue. You obviously believe that CH would have kept us up and is not to blame for what has happened to our club. I disagree. End of discussion.
I agree although I think the club really over hyped him too. I know we spent a lot of money on him but maybe deep down he could have done without the added pressure. Hindsight is a wonderful thing huh?
I would like to point this toward DM also. I have no wish to argue about CH. He's gone, and we are left with what we have got, so lets just support our team for the remaining 4 games, safely in the knowledge that we will be playing Leeds Utd next season
What I believe is that with a few pieces of good fortune, against teams we battered we would have had enough points to stay up, and that CH would have accomplished his aim. But he was limited and needed to changed at the end of the season
Games such as Cardiff (home and away), West Ham and Man Utd at home - these are the games where we were **** out of luck, and it has probably cost us a PL place. The only game I can recall, where we got any luck, was West Brom away.
Not sticking up for him but the service our forwards have had has been woeful, RVW and Hooper have missed some sitters but when you've got midfielders lofting in crosses or struggling to get decent chances to yellow shirt it hardly helps.
Evening gents, and what a bloody fantastic evening it is! Next season if i were you, base your side on a few hard working senior players, get rid of the egos and move your younger players up and you will be ok.
Yep, with decent service and some fresh confidence I still think he'll be a hit somewhere. It came up earlier in the day that he'd probably do well with Swansea, I could see them picking him up for a cut price fee to rotate with Bony and Michu. I guess the question is who would take them? Ruddy has a solid reputation, but there's been few stand-out moments this season, Bassong seems to go from mishap to mishap, RvW hasn't scored in 20 hours, has Hooper scored since Christmas? Redmond looks promising but still isn't really ready for the Prem for me. Leaving for me are Fer, Snodgrass and RvW for definite, and I can't see Pilks signing a new contract. Hoolahan, Ruddy, Howson, Olsson and Bassong would be the next tier of players to perhaps leave. Unless the promoted teams decide they've got serious deficits some of our players could fill, I can't see many more moving on.
And carroll missed a shed load of opportunities when at Liverpool. In fact in terms of converted chances my guess is our strikers have done better
