..that I´m very pleased that so many of you on here seem to be lifted by the Hughton - Adams change, unfortunately I´m not feeling the same way, which bothers me enormously, as I am, by nature, one of the most optimistic souls I know.

I´m sure this weekend will show that you´re all fully justified, and that I´m being unduly wary and concerned, but to me this was a change made at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons ( to appease the fans). I have no grouse with Adams, in the same way as (contrary to many) I had no grouse with Hughton, but of the two I know which one of them I would rather have had sitting in the dugout to face Brendan Rodgers, Jose Mourinho, David Moyes and Arsene Wenger.

I desperately hope that the impact most of you seem to think Adams will have, does in fact come to fruition, because otherwise I do fear for our survival. That has nothing to do with him or his ability, in the same way, as for me anyway, it had nothing to do with Hughton or his ability either. My concern has always been with the players, I´m just not convinced they´ve got what it takes to lift themselves, if they had, then surely they would have done so weeks and months ago. Despite the situation we´re in, there´s still no leadership out there, no rallying when things get tough, no-one who's prepared to step forward and show the way, and that really worries me.

I sincerely hope this weekend will go a long way to allaying my fears, and prove me entirely wrong, and that we finally can lay the Fulham ghost once and for all. So until then I shall fade discreetly into the background, but remain, as yet I´m afraid, unconvinced.

Fair enough RBF, although my feelings are more along the lines of it didn't matter who was in charge this weekend, as long as CH was not! After the last two games, it just looked like whatever cohesion was left in the squad, was draining away all too quickly, and something had to be done to try and recover the situation.

Adams may do well, he may not and I am not expecting a win on Saturday, but do feel we will see a different team turning out, possibly one that will make a fight of it.
 
I have horrible doubts we are going to make RBF but after the last two shocking performances in winnable games I just don't see how CH was going to turn it around.

My doubts turned to nightmares last night when I saw Ipsquit had won again..... you know what im thinking!
 
I personally can't see how one could get less out of the players or produce less successful tactics. As such it wouldn't matter who's in the dugout. The worst case scenario here is we play badly away and realistically we were going to do that anyway. If the singular improvement that the fan support Adams fully then that is at least a small improvement.

I do agree entirely with this statement though............just so you know I am not simply making a stand to the contrary <ok>

I believe we do have one player capable of doing just that, and he needs to be given the armband, and relieve Bassong of that particular duty - Step up Robert Snodgrass.
 
the concept that 'nobody could do worse' is one that horrifies me. of course they could - they could do much, much worse. he might not have been liked by a large number of our fans but that doesn't make him rubbish. if he was rubbish he would never have achieved what he has.

as far as i'm concerned i share the same doubts as you rbf. the board have been brave and bold. if we stay up it will be justified. if we go down it will not. of course many will claim that we'd have gone down regardless had hughton stayed in charge. we might, but we'll never know the answer to that and i felt confident we had a better chance with him in charge than with adams.

one thing that cannot be denied is that the atmosphere around the club has been lifted enormously and that can only be of benefit to us. we just need to get behind adams and hope that the gamble pays off.

Well maybe, but many will say that is hard to imagine, largely based on performances over the last 15 months. The very fact that many/large percentage believe this, to me, says an awful lot about what CH has done with/to the team in that time, which was of an equal concern.

i am not for one moment suggesting he was doing brilliantly - evidently he was not. BUT, he had amassed enough points to consistently keep us out of the bottom three over the course of almost two seasons. he had a decent record against the big clubs, especially at home. no clown is able to do that. the reason he has gone is to appease the fans and get them back onside more than anything football related. we couldn't carry on with that atmosphere at games, home or away. at least we've killed that problem but my fear, and i suppose that of rbf is that we've created a new problem - we have a novice in charge of the most crucial run in we've had in years.

Especially given the away record of late, based on previous performances away under CH, Fulham would have been a disaster. On the BBC:

We all have to start somewhere I guess. I have no real opinion about Neil Adams one way or the other tbh but I hope he does what is needed in the next 5 games. As alluded to above, it is for the players to step up, and hopefully with a different team talk before the games, what we perceive as a restricted way of playing will not be on NA's mind, and the players can play their game with a little more freedom.
 
let's just hope we win at fulham because if we do the gamble has paid off immediately. if we lose i don't fancy us to pick up any points from the big games - and i thought we might with hughton. i do actually agree that we'd probably have lost at fulham though, as he'd have tried to make sure we kept it tight and drew 0-0. we'd probably have lost 1-0 as a result of an individual mistake. but its the same players - yes it appeared they were restricted in some way but the most important reason for our disappointing form is brittle confidence. you can't just turn that on or off. go behind and that lack of confidence will still be evident.
 
Our away form is lost 6 in 6. So in that sense it is impossible to do worse. We're below the bottom threshold for poor. There's no worse that 0 points.

surely everyone has doubts about what is going to pan out, regardless if you agreed or not that hughton should have gone. we also will never know if chris would have kept us up.

let's all get behind the team on saturday - 'iner' or 'outer' - especially if we go behind in the game. i think we are all in that boat.
 
No surprises from me, I could not see another point coming from the remaining fixtures under Hootgone, but that hasen't entirely changed with Adarms at the helm. I think the change had to be made and not just because of the fans reaction as Supers and rbf believe. But because with Hootgone I think the results would have been;
Fulham 3-0 City
City 0 - 5 Liverpool
Manure 3-0 City
Chelski 5-0 City
Goners 1-3 Gunners

Now you can argue a couple of them might go a little closer. but there is little evidence of any hope of even a near miss away under Hootgone. and realy do you think we'd win those home ones? I didn't.

Adom's offers hope, not alot, but some, a breath of fresh air from the Hootgone malaise.

Pretty sure the only top team we've beaten this season is Spurs. We've been thrashed by Pool and ManC and beaten by Arsenal, Chelsea and gave Man U a good game but still lost. Last year we did well against the top teams but this year has been far worse and I couldn't see Hughton suddenly turning that round.

I defended Hughton for a long time but the complete lack of away performances coupled with the loss against WBA was just too much. It was so insipid and uninspiring that I really couldn't see a way back. The reaction of the fans was over the top in my opinion but you could understand their frustration. With NA at the helm at least there will be more impertous to go and win the games we have left. Every manager has to start somewhere. Maybe the premier league is a big ask but it seems to me like Adams has a good footballing brain and I'm happy to give him his go.
 
I personally believe there is no way we would have been relegated under Hughton. There is no way we would have lost 7 games in a row; he has the managerial nous to engineer a win against the like of Arsenal or Liverpool etc.

Adams I just can't see getting that done. I really hope I am wrong but I am alot less confident of survival now than I was before.

Say what you like about his managerial qualities, he has class and, as pompous as it sounds, is noble in defeat:
"I am naturally very disappointed to have lost my job but immensely proud to have served as Norwich City's manager... Norwich City is a great club and I feel honoured to have had the privilege of being its manager."

Doubt you'd have heard that from Rodent...
