He's saying Leicester are currently in an equal to or better position than us and Stoke and you don't think he's too far out? If any team came up from the Championship and didn't sign anyone they would be going straight down, including us. The fact that some you think James/Drinkwater/Nugent etc. match up to Livermore/Huddlestone/Long is astounding. I'm not saying you won't stay up as you very well could do with about 7/8 decent signings but to suggest you could compete currently is ridiculous.
They're talking about what we can do next season. I.e. after we get in a few players. He thinks that with 2/3 real quality additions then we can get to the West Ham sort of level. What is so outlandish about that?
What's outlandish is the idea that Stoke (and our lot) are apparently 3 signings weaker than Swansea and Villa, according to his thinking.
What is to disagree with there? Do you have players like Michu, Benteke or Bony? No. Thats why they're the next level.
We have players like Long, Donkavic and Sagbo. Do you have players like those 3? Do you have players like Huddlestone, Livermore and Meyler? Do you have players like Rosenior, Davies and Chester? The only two players of yours that'd get in our team are Knockaert and possibly Schmiechal (who is probably about on a par with McGregor at present but has age on his side and will carry on improving, I'd definitely have him here). At the minute were not close to even level. And out of that lot he thought you are 'currently as good as' the only side I'd say we have a better squad than is Palace. Possibly Norwich.
I think it's hard to claim they're "next level" when they're below us in the table after so many league games - and well behind Stoke.
Nugent and Vardy. Drinkwater, James and King. RDL Moore, Wasyl and Morgan. You can try and tell me that you're miles ahead but in reality, we're 4/5 shrewd signings from Walshy away. I have every belief that come the start of the season we'll be looking to finish above you. Funny that you choose those two as well. They're probably our 5/6th best players, which says it all about our side.
Jelavic > Nugent Long > Vardy Huddlestone > Drinkwater Livermore > King Meyler > James Davies > Morgan Chester > Moore Rosenior > Wasilewski Hard to argue with that? Very close, I must say.
There isn't much in it, which proves my point that we're only 4/5 shrewd signings from being a side that'll look to finish above you.
It's a conversation that's always going to be blighted by bias, but on the face of it I'd have said our squad at present is a lot better than Leicester's. Does that mean that the players they have are crap? No, of course not. The players we have make up, at present, the 12th best team in the country. Wasilewski isn't as good as Chester or Davies, in my opinion. The latter two have proven with ease this season that they're every bit PL players. Marcin hasn't played in the top flight before, neither have the likes of Drinkwater, Vardy, Morgan, Knockaert, Mahrez or Dyer, so how on Earth you can say they're just as good as a team that's spent the whole season in PL mid table is beyond me. If you didn't buy anybody, kept the same team and managed to finish higher than us next season, I'd accept you have the better team, but your basis on how impressive your team is comes from beating the likes of Yeovil, Doncaster, Blackpool, Barnsley, Ipswich etc. Ours is based on beating Liverpool, Newcastle, Swansea, Norwich, West Brom, West Ham etc.
