Given I know Dunwoody rode FP in the early days and seem to remember others on him later. Very low. So 0.
Looking at that Melling, Lady Cricket is passing quality on to her progeny. Swing Bowler ain't half bad.
That was too easy, despite being stable jockey he only rode him four times and failed to win on him! One more then that cannot be just an easy guess. Which horse gave Ruby his first Cheltenham Festival winner and in what race?
Yes STH, loving it too. Paul Carberry next. Its like a walk down memory lane. Seems like yesterday for an old timer like me that he was winning the National but he was only a kid!
It's a good read alright, good to see how they started out and developed and learned various lessons from their trainers and that to get to where they are today.
I might have already answered that one stick. If so, is the next question "How many times did Ruby win on Fadalko?"
Yeah, it also gives you a bit of insight into how things have changed so much over the years and how the Irish can now keep a lot of their better horses rather than lose all the best ones to the English yards. Much better for racing in my opinion! I could be totally wrong with this but it seems that the Irish want all their countrymen to succeed. I don't think its that way with the Brits!
He only won that one race on Fadalko Ron but it was a seminal moment as I believe that race that day convinced Nicholls that he had to have that man on his horses. They came up with a compromise that suited both Nicholls and Mullins. Nicholls had powerful owners who were buying the best horses. Ogden, Barber and Clive Smith were fortunate to have Walsh on board and he of course was privileged to ride possibly the best collection of chasers ever assembled in one yard!
I have witnessed both sides of that to be fair although the majority of people really do support anyone that is from the Country and trying to do well for themselves, especially at sport. I would even see people who know nothing about what may be happening just being positive and wishing them well once they know their Irish, it can be funny but that's just the way it is. I think because Ireland is so small most people take great pride when someone does well and it's kind of like one for the small guy so to speak. Luckily, Horse racing is one of the very few sports the Country excels with and their is great positivity around for anyone involved in it from here.
