The sequoia tree is named after the Cherokee intellectual who did heaps of things (look him up on Wikipedia). His name was translated into English as George Guess so it could be said that the tree, the heaviest living thing on Earth, was named after a guess, if you are one of those tricky people, like me, who like playing with words.
