What can be said? An organised team beat a rabble today. We came up as champions yet Palace and Hull look likely to stay up. The 3 at the bottom look gone. Swansea fans will probably give us some stick this week, but they should be thanking us. The three above those relegation places are terrible teams as well and we are making them look good!
You have made some valid points there mate, we look like next season's whipping boys if we stay up, Monk is not the answer, and we need a good clear out this summer. Anyway you tried your best, better luck next season!................
DP, it is tough for the Swans because you had a style that worked for you but it seems you have run out of managers to use it. It does seem like you will need a new manager and some new players to adjust. Still, I think you will stay in the PL for quite a while yet!
Questions need to be asked about Solskjaer's team selection and tactics. Daehli is not a holding midfield player, Zaha is just not a player (give him back to the Mancs now and save some money) and then losing 2 - 0 and he brings on Cowie to play right wing? And that's just the start. I could go on but a bottle of good red wine awaits. I feel sorry for those who have bought tickets for Southampton next week. Could be a cricket score. I don't think OGS has what will be needed to bring us back up next season.
Thanks Blue, but only if our board get back to the Basics of Martinez and Rodgers will it come good, we need the right manager in, Monk is not it!............
Quote 'We came up as champions yet Palace and Hull look likely to stay up' We, Hull City, have never looked likely to go down...Solid defence, class players, great manager = survival You'll be back...."Don't know where..Don't know when but I know we'll meet again some sunny day."
Sousa was/is a good manager but without the support of the Board (regardless of what club it is ) then he was doomed to fail .
Could this be the game that decides who comes down with us & Fulham ? Sun 11 May: Sunderland v Swansea
Think there are quite a few twists left yet in a totally bonkers PL season! KTF Dai, until you are mathematically down there is still much to play for; okay, doesn't look good at the minute, but Norwich got the run-in from Hell, last four games - Liverpool, Manure, Chelski and Arsenal! You got Stoke and Sunderland to play yet, tough I know, but if you pick up points there who knows what can happen? Don't give it up yet, stranger things have happened! I know it looks bad at the minute, but life aint a bed of roses at Swansea either and we are right in the thick of the relegation ****!! Think it will go down to the last games and will be willing you on to success almost (but not quite ) as much as us. Hope we can both pull off the great escape! Good luck guys!
s-c head, I admire your resilience. maybe it is the moment but I am feeling totally bereft at the moment. I could certainly do with a bit of what you are on!!!!
Totally understand FFB - but it ain't over till it's over - believe that Fulham are all but down, Sunderland have games in hand but they have to win them, Norwich have the run in from hell and will find it hard to pick up a point between now and the end of the season - you have got to feel you can take points off Stoke and Sunderland, if you do that - who knows what will happen!! Don't give it up until it is impossible is all I'm saying - we are also right in the midst of the relegation ****, but will not give up until the end! Not on anything apart from maybe ill founded optimism - you are more than welcome to have some of it !
Up to yesterday I thought we could ride this out and get to 17th, although losing games there was some good things we could hold on too. But yesterday our team turned up and played like they already thought they were down. We rely on Mutch to get us going and he had a stinker yesterday, we looked like a defeated team.
Really kind words - but that fat lady is warming up im afraid. We have won 6 games out of 33. We need to win 4 out of 5. I no maths teacher, but it doesn't look good. Our next game is away to the team that stuffed us 3-0 at home back when we were a fairly competative team. Our last two games are against Newcastle and Chelsea. Sorry I know you are trying to cheer your neighbours up here, but there comes a point where you have to be cruel to be kind!!! For what it's worth, I never thought you were truly in the relegation scrap, there are definitely 3 worse teams than you in this divison and you will be fine..
If Ole continues to play the wrong team week after week I can't see us getting any points between now and the end of the season. When I saw the team on Sat I didn't think it was that bad with the exception of Jones. I thought Ole was going 4-4-2 with Jones & Campbell up front and Zaha and Daeli out wide. But Campbell played out wide and we went 4-5-1 makes no sense! We had two perfectly good wingers in Noone and Bellamy sat on the bench!! We had no one to take corners/free kicks I think Taylor actually took a corner at one point. And the defence is just woeful! Where is the hard working team that works for each other and keeps going to the end that Malky left behind? If Ole can't see that his tactics of choosing a different starting 11 week after week is not working I think we will struggle in the Championship aswell.
