My mistake on the Dalgleish + Hicks and Gillette situation. I still think he was a disaster of a manager, though. I can't, however, agree with the rest of what you say. So, there would be no interest in Vertonghen, (a fit) Kaboul, Walker ( who even most of your lot admit is better than Johnson)? I also think that Paulinho, Lamela, Eriksen are far better players than we have seen so far. Once again, these are all very good players. They just lack any semblance of proper coaching or management.
Until this season I would have agreed with you about Vertonghen. However, as he appears to have gone into a sulk, I doubt that we would have him as we won't buy/keep players who do not have the fight/spirit in them eg Sahin. We already have better than Kaboul and yet we need to strengthen - sorry Walker. I believe Johnson is better as an attacking back. Walker also loses concentration and can get niggled into a 'war' and therefore loses his concentration further. I can't really comment on Paulinho and Lamela as I haven't seen enough of them so I'll take your word that they could improve. However, once again I believe we already have a better midfield and will be looking to improve on what we've got. There was interest in Eriksen before he came to you. But I'm not sure that he would fit in a Rodgers midfield. I've deliberately stayed away form the management/coaching situation as you know far more than I do. There's no point in changing for a 3rd time now so you've got what you've got for better or worse and many of you seem to believe worse. I would not even dream of trying to tell you who you should appoint but whoever it is will have to be given time and that could be 2/3 seasons. You will have to bring in some new faces (costly) and reorganise the good players that you want to retain. So forgive me if I'm reluctant to go further but it really is your and your clubs job to sort it. You'll understand that Kenny is a legend at Anfield. But I for one will always thank him for coming back and making us hope again when we were at our lowest ebb. The money does not matter. He brought back pride. We played some scintillating football under him - became 'champions of the woodwork'. As I said when Rodgers arrived he was talking about retention and resting on the ball. When he saw the players that he had left to him by Kenny and how they wanted to play he changed his mine and developed the style that you see now. Therefore for many of us Kenny will always be King. Now we are far from the finished article and its going to be interesting to see were Rodgers takes us next.
Dalglish most definitely stabilised us after the **** served up by Hodgson FSG appointed Dalglish as all the fans wanted him and were singing his name from the stands Under Dalglish we won the league cup and got to the FA cup final and signed Suarez
I agree that Vertonghen has turned into a bit of a prime Donna. But, I suppose he would say that what's happening isn't exactly what he was promised when he signed. A fit Kaboul is a better CB than either Agger or Skrtel, in my opinion. Fitness has been his problem, however. Walker, we will have to agree to disagree. However, as I pointed out, many of your own supporters concede that Walker is the better player. Lamela! Well, to be honest, we haven't seen anything much of him either. All reports from Italy say that he's a tremendous young player. Apart from injuries, I think settling in a new country, new club, new system, different language, etc, all comes more easily to some youngsters more than others. I hope he can settle and that we can see his full potential. Paulinho, has been misused by both AVB and Sherwood. Constantly moved around from one place to another, etc. Again, he's a full Brazilian international with 24 caps, and won an MOM award in one of their games not too long ago. I think that he also, is somewhat disillusioned and dispirited. Eriksen, yeah you have Coutinho. I still think Rodgers would fit him in somewhere, given the chance. As for management, many people outside of your supporters think that Hodgson was never given a fair crack. The supporters were on his back from day one, because they wanted Dalgleish. Personally, I think Dalgleish did next to nothing for you. In conjunction with Comolli he was responsible for the ridiculous signings of Carroll, Downing, Adam, etc. o.k he may have signed Suarez, but you got lucky there. I don't think there's many in football who could have predicted what a revelation he has become. Rodgers is a very clever coach. He changes systems to suit the opposition he is playing. The basic style is still a lot like he employed at Swansea though.
A mid table wum from a mid table club trying to wind up fans from a club that has beaten you 9-0 on agg Its going so well for you this thread.
Yep I do know that but this legend still thinks hes winding us up when its actually impossible to wind up fans of a club who are 15 points ahead of you and beat you 9-0 on agg.
And it's part 2. I'd have thought that this would be true, but the evidence doesn't appear to support your hypothesis, I'm afraid.
Oh right, we are all wound up because we come on here to laugh at comedy Spurs and this legendary thread? We are all fuming at how bad this season has gone so far
Corrrr, PNP has learnt a new word. Hypothesis even! Now that's advanced for somebody with a reading age of 7. He must have had the spell-checker on though!
Just gently amused at silly (was going to say childish but that may be too harsh) comments like yours and PNP's
I've mentioned a few times in this thread that if we ever finish behind them the place would turn to chaos but other than FFD, who's apparently desperate to pick a fight, the rest have been good as gold. Fairplay guys
Only because astroturdnaut was banned from here long ago. Imagine the neg-repping spree he had planned for the summer!
In all fairness, the banter/wumming is all contained on this thread. Not like it really spills over to others and ruins them. So no harm done, you know what you're getting when you come to this thread lol
