Wants to stay, personally I'd be happy to see him given a contract, he brings experience and is a really solid performer. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11709/9235517/premier-league-joseph-yobo-has-admitted-interest-in-a-permanent-move-to-norwich
I'd like to think given a summer to sort out centre back options we'd be looking to progress beyond a 33 year old loanee we've had... I really think we could do with a marquee signing at centre back, a statement, like Cardiff made with Caulker. In fact why don't we try and get Caulker...
He'll probably be available. I really want the central defence to focus on Bennet because I think he can be a great player for us. I want the marquee signing to be a new manager.
So Yobo being part of our magic clean sheet run into 2014 means you would replace him with an expensive signing ? I would agree but he deserves a pay as you go extension in my eyes....
Depends on wages, but I'd take him back for a year. The more Bennett plays, the better he's going to get, and I do think he could be a top CB. However he's not getting that game time at the moment, for whatever reason. I'd bring Yobo back for a season more as cover than anything else, sign a quality CB, and loan Bennett to the top of the championship. Hopefully he can then get a long run of games and really improve, so at the end of next season we can wave Yobo goodbye and bring Bennett back in to challenge for a regular starting spot. Swap deal with Caulker?
No such thing as pay as you go contract. He's passed his best and I think he'll only get worse next season. I don't want to see us use a slot on a player I suspect will get worse. For me everything revolves around the midfield. You get a decent midfield the defence doesn't need to be as sharp.
33 is no longer past it for a defender who does not rely on pace. For instance I would sign up Sylvain Distin for us in an instance even though he's 36 odd. Yobo is clearly not long term, but from what I've seen of him he's good for at the very least another year in the Prem, and the style of our league is that wise, strong, old heads really do matter. The coaching staff will know how fit he is, but I really wouldn't be surprised to see him get a two year contract.
I'd keep him, I'd have him as first choice presently, yes he will decline, but I think there would be at least one more good season in him, I'd like to see a good cb come in in the summer, but with all our clean sheets this season and our lack of goals I think the priority for spending is leadership and creativity. Bah!
A great option to have as back up. I imagine he wouldn't cost much either. If I had to chose I'd still like a top younger CB brought in, but Yobo would be good to have in case of injuries and the like.
