I was actually highlighting that it's not a particularly great city but I don't give a ****, it's home.
And yet if you were a pure-blood Mackem you'd still hate football. Anyway, and first of all, it's not the only place with a theatre, a river and a swimming pool. Second, it's a pretty unspectacular stadium. Sorry son!
Are you serious? - Brought up Catholic in protestant dominated Scotland at the height of the troubles. Why didn't you say "the height of the cold war" rather then the Troubles. - Primary school one of the 1st in UK to have perspex glass due to the continual brick bombardment even during classes Must have been a nightmare having perspex glass. Whereas the schools over here had 20 foot perimeter fences, caged windows and children fearing the threat of bomb blasts than a smashed window. - Extended family all followed Hibs but I thought them a bunch of integrating wimps - Joined the exodus outta the east with my older brother and into the cauldron of Provo paradise Provo paradise.
I think I still would have enjoyed the World Cup immensely tbh, that was the first time in my life I'd been thrust into watching football, and I loved it.
I misread it, and thought if I didn't reply you might go away and I wouldn't have to admit to my stupidity at misreading it. Cheers, you ****
'Dos' because it's not a possessive or an elision. Think the OED says you can spell it with the apostrophe though, if you like dictionaries and that.
To be honest, I have lived all Europe and have now settled in Yorkshire. I was born in Scotland and developed an interest in football while living in France. Ironically my team of choice was Newcastle and it was because it was the first kit I saw..... Been bitten by the bug since 1993 lol!
My dads cousin is Paul Stephenson, ex Toon player so I didn't follow him (my dad) to the dark side and follow Safc.... Instead I've been black and White since I was a wee bairn...
Thank you, sir. A bit of googling has revealed it originates from the expression, fair dues. Fascinating.
