I know, I know, "one game at a time" should be the mantra, but looking at the next 3 games for the title contenders is very revealing, and I think we'll have a fair idea where the title could be headed in 3 weeks time 29th/30th March - Crystal Palace v Chelsea, Liverpool v Tottenham, Arsenal v Man City 5th/6th April - Chelsea v Stoke, West Ham v Liverpool, Man City v Southampton 13th April - Swansea v Chelsea, Liverpool v Man City This is before Man City play the first of their games in hand on the 16th April which is home to Sunderland The game against City is going to be absolutely MASSIVE, and it's good news for Chelsea because at least one of us is going to drop points: one of us could be dropping 3 or both dropping 2 I just hope we keep the momentum going and beat Spurs on Sunday, that'll be 8 wins on the spin IF we can beat them. They will play a much higher line than Sunderland did last night which should make it easier for our forwards, but my God, we looked panicky as **** in the last 15 minutes. Thoughts?
LFC: W, W, W. Just go and do it lads, preferably in style but doesn't really matter how now, just find a way.
If you said to me we'd beat Arsenal and then Southampton and Man Utd both away in a 7 game winning streak I would of laughed it away. Fear no one as right now we're one of the inform teams in Europe, so let's go in to every game with the same intensity and mentality and see where we end up. The next 3 games are tough, but to win the PL you have to get through these blocks which are more difficult.
It's all about momentum isn't it. If you forget what it's like to lose then winning has just become a habit and at the top level in sport that mental attitude generally leads to success. Chelsea have felt the loss recently and they've got more CL to come where they'll potentially feel it again. City were humbled in Europe so that could play on their mind, although they are rolling in the Prem. We are clean and clear, I think it just comes down to letting go of the inferiority complex and feeling like we belong there now instead, if the players should have the attitude that this their rightful place. It comes down to us and us alone, we need to make City and Chelsea experience loss now.
Man city have the hardest fixtures, then us. Really points to Chelsea having the advantage. Hopefully they stumble with playing champions league games.
Apart from us, all Chelsea's remaining fixtures are against bottom half clubs (I think), so despite City's games in hand and Maureen's mind games, Chavs are in a strong position, imo. We really need to beat them, and hope they have another Villa moment or two.
Why? Why are we worrying about City, Chelsea or even Spurs? All season we have concentrated upon what and how we are doing. We've stayed true to the 'one match at a time' philosophy. So why change? We know where we are strong and we know where we are weak and there's bugger all that Rodgers or the players or us fans can do about it. So we keep dreaming until its no longer possible. Let's not let things slip now by worrying what other sides may or may not do. We can only win our matches. Do that and we'll secure a top 4 slot and just maybe win the title. It's been a brilliant season.
It's critical we focus on one game at a time. Any thoughts of games after the next game is focus lost on the next game. 100% focused on 3 points from the next game. Because we have no other comps to worry about we don't need to be planning who's gonna be available for this or that game, injuries are the only consideration in that context
Agreed. Once you start talking about multiple games the jinxes start getting very complicated. Let's #nojinx one game at a time
I've been saying it for months re you winning the league on our board. I'm suprised Astro hasn't commented on it on our board
My thoughts are: 1. I really hope we beat Spurs on the weekend. Its going to be a real hard game and could be the one that bursts our title bubble. (We could also smash them.) 2. I really hate Chelsea, but expect them to win the title.
