Glad to see Arsenal drop points, but I swear there's a new low every week. I have never, ever seen time blown with a player going in clear on goal...till now. After four minutes of time, plus another minute because Arsenal still had the ball. The moment Swansea get it, and are in clear on goal, the whistle blows. It really is disgusting.
Gooners on their forum '' the title race is now over '' It's been over since the start of the season, everyone knew(apart from the goons) they weren't serious title challengers.
" I have never, ever seen time blown with a player going in clear on goal...till now." Not old enough to remember Clive "the book" in the 1978 WC then.
Someone on the Swansea board has just pointed out that Lee Probert was the same ref who allowed play to go on forever on the weekend at St James', allowing Newcastle to nick it. Funny how he didn't do the same when the away side's threatening to score, eh?
The ref can do that as it's little Swansea. Would he have blown if a Arsenal player was through on goal or if the same thing happened to a Chelsea player?
The first world cup I watched was in '82--but I'm not so young, I'm from the United States of North America.
Utd's home record PL15 W6 D3 L6 PTS 21. 15 home games usually equates to 40 points. To have little more than half of that is abysmal. Teams always used to be forced back at Old Trafford, scared to push forward in case they allowed any of Utd's lightening quick front four ran in behind them. Sunderland defended all game in Dec 2009 to lose 1-0 in the 90th minute after over 40 attempts at goal. What's gone wrong?
You're being tested to see who true Utd fans are as now you appreciate the fergie years more then you imagined and it could be worse. Fergie could have retired in 2002 but he decided to change that decision. He gave you 11 more seasons so you will have to feel like a normal fan for awhile, lots of disappointment!
"That's unbelievable." Clive "the book" (as he was known) , was an extremely arrogant ref. Note also that the linesman moved the ball on the corner for no apparent reason. That wasted time which meant the ball would have been in before the ref blew for FT. Historical aside : The 1978 WC was littered with accusations that a stop Brasil campaign was occurring. The Argentina vs Peru 6-0 game was very suspect (even though they did play well all tournament) .
Part of me is sort of glad Arsenal beat us rather than us beating them as I would start believing we could get 4th as we would only be a point behind. It's better like this as it would only end in disappointment like it always does. Reading the Arsenal board Piskie is putting his hopes on Kallstrom as the answer to stop Toure and Fernandinho after his 11 minute cameo at home v Swansea when they were already winning. Good luck!
Their arrogance is slowly turning into doubt and they can no longer take the attitude of feeling as if they are the best team in the land! Although out of the bigger clubs I don't mind Utd, especially under Fergie but there younger fans won't have known what it's like to struggle for top six!
It happened to Everton four years ago when they were 3-3 with Man Utd and hitting them on the break: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...vid-Moyes-charged-Manchester-United-rant.html Similar happened to Wimbledon in the FA Cup about 15 years ago, when the ref blew just after they took a corner.
It's baffling how the same players go from playing at a high tempo, running hard from the first minute to the last, wanting the ball, having confidence to take the opposition on etc to standing still, looking around trying to find someone willing to receive the ball, overelaborating, waiting for Rooney to do something spectacular....I can't believe one man should be able to make such a difference to the same group of players who knew what it took to be winners. Tonight's game is also a reminder of how misleading stats can be. Utd had 52 to 48% possession, 4 shots on target each and 12 to 10 in total shots at goal in City's favour. But City totally dominated. Only one team carried any threat and had any guile in midfield. Silva and Toure were a class or two above.
