Leeds is at least twice as big as Swansea with a lot more to do. As for the earlier 'chav' comments, I've heard awful things about Swansea's pikey population. North Leeds is actually one of the most prosperous areas outside of the Home Counties; South Leeds is where a lot of the crime is committed and other than on matchdays, I can't see why any of the players would end up there anyway. Leeds is UK's number one visitor city and has been ranked one of the UK's top five places to live. And I take it you've never been to the Yorkshire Dales if you want to talk about local scenery! There's also the fact that Swansea's absolutely in the middle of nowhere with, what, a six hour train ride to London or pretty much anywhere of note?

Oh its the guy who likes to be dominated :cheesy:

We have no pikey problem at all in Swansea, they pitch camp. the council takes years to move them, no problem lol

And I would bet the brecon beacons would give the dales a run for their money, which is about 30 minute drive from swansea, and as we have the gower coast just down the road from swansea and the first place designated an area of outstanding natural beauty, plus places on the coast like the mumbles with its restaurants and bars, and port talbot with its steel works - oops scrub that ;)

And who really wants to go to london ? professional football players don't live in bars and pubs, they don't really piss it up against the wall, they live and breathe football, can afford the best houses and areas, and don't give a monkeys about being in the middle of nowhere , which by the way Swansea is not, though it seems like it at times, there is a relaxed pace of life, and most things are good here, weather and roadworks besides

Do they teach geography at the schools in Leeds? Brum is a couple and a bit hours away and you say SIX hours to London????? What sort of trains do they have in Leeds? Still have a man with a red flag walking in front of them do they? Try three hours and change.

To further your education about Swansea, the Gower Peninsula was the FIRST area in the United Kingdom to be designated and protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty by the National Trust. Swansea is also the LARGEST County Borough in the UK; and with a population of circa 200k there is plenty of room for the locals to enjoy the superb facilities and environs. Yorkshire Dales are nice but we've got all that plus an outstanding coastline - no contest imo.

As for football, what will happen next season is a matter of conjecture. What happened last season is a matter of fact. Swansea were a far superior team to Leeds and consequently will be playing in the Premiership. Leeds will not be.
Nothing more to be said for the time being.

At the risk of being neutral for a second. (Or at least not a complete partisan)

Yes Leeds is a massive city and Swansea is small by comparison. However, its very hard to judge a place if you have only been to Swansea to watch the football (What happened there by the way  )

    As mentioned previously.

Swansea can boast the UK first area of outstanding natural beauty and has some of the most stunning beaches and scenery in the UK.
As far as the club situation is concerned IMO.

Also, Swansea University has the second (to Cambridge) most prestigious engineering dept in the UK and holds the highest 6 star rating, virtual cave and bluechip supercomputer.

Swansea is on the up with development and drive in mind and Leeds for all its size and history has become just another selling club.

Haven't you just has a youth player turn down a contract with yourselves to move to Spain in the hope of getting in to the Barca academy ??

I thought they have extended his contract? We need another winger but Butler is more like a league one player

I've been there aside from football and it's like Dylan Thomas famously said, an ugly city surrounded by pretty countryside.

I seriously doubt players are concerned with beautiful countryside, but if they were, Leeds is surrounded by stunning scenery too, so it's hardly like that's a huge pull factor in Swansea's favour.

Leeds has three universities, the main one of which is far above Swansea in every ranking going and part of the distinguished Russell Group.

Wrong. We've only sold one first-team player in the last three years and that was Fabian Delph who moved for £8m. I'd like your evidence for that claim.

His family is moving to Spain. Are you honestly saying Swansea youth players would spurn a move to Barca if it came up anyway? <laugh>

And I'll respond to the chav claims earlier again. Firstly, that website ChavTowns is utterly stupid and there will doubtless be similarly damning entries for Swansea. Secondly as I previously said, most Leeds players live in North Leeds/Harrogate/North Yorkshire area which is one of the most prosperous outside of the Home Counties. Leeds town centre is also very nice; there are rough areas of Leeds like there are rough areas of Swansea, but the players will spend their lives miles away from them unless they choose to go there. Can't believe anyone's arguing Max Gradel wants to move to Swansea to get away from chavs! <laugh>

You seriously aren't suggesting Swansea Uni is better than Leeds Uni?

While we're still talking, my Swansea comrades, would you guys as Welshmen rather be associated with a) Northern England, b) Southern England, c) The Midlands or d) Scotland if you were forced into it? Nothing to do with Gradel/football, just something I'm trying to resolve for a thread on General Chat.

No, however (if you believe them) league tables place Leeds far ahead of Swansea, aswell as in reputation.

None of them, I don't generalise people or where they from, well except in banter ;) I work in different areas and I treat people with respect as that is my nature, and expect the same back! It matters little therefore where you are from!
