Meh he hasn't been that bad tbh, it's only really in the premier league where he's goal record is awful, and if you actually look at it in the last 15 years only 2 strikers have had 20+ goal seasons for us on 2 occasions each - Drogba & Hasselbaink. Was a bit of a rip off for us but was kind of a win win for all parties, as Liverpool got the money ( albeit you spunked it ) and we got an ok player who has chipped in some important goals at times, and at least it weakened liverpool for a few years, Torres never use to stop scoring vs us!

Some reasonable points in there <ok>

You could afford to take a punt, but he has been a failure though.

The League is the bread and butter and he has a miserable record for you guys.

- 65 in 102 for us.

- 19 in 104 for you.

Actually worse than I thought!

That's shockingly bad, and that's if he cost £25 million, look at the stick Loldado gets at 28 million? He needs to move on sooner rather than later rather than sit on the fringes at Chelsea for the rest of his career, though the wages aren't bad :D

Soldado was a bargain at 28 mill <laugh> <ok>

I think Torres will move back to Spain, and thus his career would have gone full circle.

I am honestly glad we missed out on Willian. I really think we need that money in other areas. He wouldn't have helped our leaky defence problem

When I saw Chelsea had offered £50m I chuckled. Great deal for us. He was already struggling.

I'm not sure he was already struggling, he were playing awful football under Woy and then under Kenny he started to turn a corner, He had 4 goals in his last 6 games before being transferred, should have been 5 had it not been for a poor offside decision against Fulham - in comparison he has 9 for that season for us before going to Chelsea which is about the same as what Rooney & Jay Rodriguez had at around the same time this season

I don't blame him for leaving. I do wish he did it with a bit more class though.

Ah well, we replaced him with an even better player in Luis Suarez :)

You forgot the poor six months prior to Woy arriving <ok>

Stats apart, my memory of the time was that he was struggling for form well before we offloaded him.
The surprise for me was that he never regained it, as I was sure it was just a temporary dip.
As I wrote earlier, I'm amazed at how ****-hot players can descend into such mediocrity.

I'm being picky, but Suarez was bought to partner Torres.

Argh well!

True but then he turned out to be the replacement. Would have been immense to see the two together.

And Torres was before he left but I maintain that was down to the tactics - Roy left Torres completely isolated.
