I'm not struggling with this at all. Assem Allam added an introduction and his name to option one because after all these months Hull Tigers as a new name has failed to attract any support. The reasons you and others have given to voting yes are, "I'm a bully", "we want to back the owner", "I want to take over the club" but not one "I think Hull Tigers is a great name".

The ballot is taking place because, in my opinion, the FA noticed that he hadn't abided by the rules of the Premier League rules. So this morning he had breakfast with the sponsors and tonight he announces a ballot of season ticket holders.

The question is what affect will this have on the FA Council on the 9th of April? I suspect very little because the main reason according to the press reports of the Membership Committee they weren't convinced of the business case for the change. I suspect they know this is all about his falling out with Hull City Council.

This is a sad day for my football club, but if it was easy it wouldn't be Hull City.

Were they actually sponsors, or the networkers that pay for a grandeous title?

I can see why they have put the pass holder information on, as who is to know if anyone is putting multiple votes in for either side. Downside to it, it goes away from being a secret ballot.

I know this may be jumping the gun a little, but who is actually counting the ballot papers? Potentially some could be "Lost" if they don't have the correct answers on couldn't they. My trust of what has happened so far, makes it so i wouldn't be at all surprised one bit if this happened.

I'm not talking about the f**king name change I'm talking about the fact that some don't seem to understand why there was no option d) "Hull City remains and Allams stay".

The FA will officially say no very soon and he'll find a way out of the club. If he wants to sell the club it's HIS decision only and the reasoning behind is HIS only. It's not emotional blackmail unless he's bluffing, which is what CTWD think. SO we'll see in the next few months if he is or not.

There's no going back imo, he's not the kind of man to put his tail between his legs. Now he's gonna want to get his money. that's all.

Walking out the club won't get his money back.

It won't make it attractive if runs it into the ground, and he won't get his 5%

I don't think you know what you mean. The discussion's about the ballot.

The name change is not happening and that's that.

Therefore this ballot won't have any impact other than emotionally.

Unless he's bluffing he'll be finding a way out soon.

that's all there is to it, I don't understand why you're all moaning about the way it is phrased. You've f**king won. AA has lost and has his pride hurt. What else do you want?

a D) option would serve no purpose apart from acting all fake and pretending that you actually support him even though you fought hard for him not to get his way. Just go celebrate and let the man do what he wants ffs.

Yet ironically, he's looking for a vote of 'confidence' in him. <laugh>

So like I said you think you know better than him and think he is bluffing. We'll see. He'll look pretty stupid if he stays doesn't he. I don't think he'll like that so I don't think he's bluffing.

Do you really think that's anyone's position?

I don't recall CTWD inviting the club to add something to their poll or petition, or did I miss something? Let me guess, that's different? You've had months to prepare for this. Months to get people on side. Either you have, or you haven't.

I dont understand why some people are struggling to get this, it's not a vote yes/no on a name change, its much much more important than that, and its more inclusive than any of the other polls we've seen online and in papers.

Maybe thats what the concern from the CTWD camp is, they always really expected, and hoped, the genuinely silent majority would just ignore a yes/no poll and they'd slide in first with a yes/no vote. They were counting on that in fact. Now they're realising its probably a little too late to try and engage those objects of their ridicule. In fact I guarantee its leaving a horrible bitter taste in the mouths of the CTWD apologists like Leon. Enjoy the FA decision while you can.

Funny how things turn around ain't it? The party streamers and empty bottles of champers must look a little out of place right now as realisation slowly sinks in to the more astute ones.

Why didn't the Allams do this (set up a poll) in the beginning?

Don't you see that - if it's more than a vote on a name change - 'Dr' Ass has brought the fans' opposition to him on himself?

There really appears to be nothing astute about his tactics - he started with an ill-thought out position and has ham-fistedly attempted to justify/salvage it.

This might be a bit heavy for a vote about a football team name - but it does seem a relevant issue.

Capital flight, aka, rich people threatening to leave/move if stuff doesn't go their way. It is becoming more and more prevalent. If a party floats an idea about taxing large corporations, then the large corporations come out and say "just letting you guys know, if you do that, we will move to another country and leave you in the ****". In the vote for Scottish Independence, large corporations have influence on the vote by saying "just letting you guys know, if you do that, we will move to another country and leave you in the ****".

Does that seem a little like the Allam vote?

It seems impossible to have genuine democratic votes alongside powerful, wealthy individuals who have real motivations to influence that vote.

Democratic votes should mean an equal say for each individual - not an equal say for each pound you have. If people have good arguments, then they will probably have more influence, but everybody has the same ability to voice their arguments. But this isn't how democratic votes are working right now in a lot of cases. Allam clearly has an immense amount of influence in this vote - he has more of a say than anybody else. Yet surely the point of a vote is to obtain an accurate and fair representation of views?

Probably too big of an issue within the context of this vote. But I don't like the idea of capital flight influencing opinions. Voice your opinions - that is what a vote is for.

This is a good post; something I have come to expect from Gawge - one of the silent majority! :emoticon-0150-hands

Unfortunately it looks upon this sorry situation with too much respect for the owners motives, ballot, straw-poll, gift, self-sufficiency or grandiose benevolence.

It's all a lie, a deceit.

The Allams play with the supporters of Hull City AFC like a cat plays with a mouse.

I find it difficult to stomach some of the lofty judgments on here - folk who have never done more that click a mouse or switch a channel in support of the club. Folk who find no fault in the owners, indeed they exalt their benevolence. Folk with a quasi-intellectual arrogance who are inadequate in stating an argument and moving on, but hang around like a dose of clap. Happy Tiger need a clinic visit.

Craig (Nottingham) - there was a time when this was all internet bullshit; what are your thoughts now? I'm genuinely interested.

Gawge, thanks. <ok>

Pretty sure the ballot wasn't his idea.
Nothing is going to change now it's a matter of pride.

He has been putting his pride ahead of the interests of Hull City since the day he refused to speak to the council ever again. He obviously thought owning the ground was the best option to ensure long term financial stability but he refuses to follow this through because of his ego.

So like I said you think you know better than him and think he is bluffing. We'll see. He'll look pretty stupid if he stays doesn't he. I don't think he'll like that so I don't think he's bluffing.

He has already made himself look stupid

Pretty sure the ballot wasn't his idea.

Whose idea was it then? Come on, pray tell.

So who's idea do believe it to have been?

Just like the name change wasn't his either.

Nobody tells him how to run his business. Except for a massive Asian company willing to invest. In that case he drops his pants for them.

Also, if we get relegated anytime soon it's CTWD's fault. Remember that.

I tell you what looking through the premier league how many good owners are there may be chelsea, man City how many others? how many in our history have we had ? yes that's why we don't have an history.
