Who'd have thought a transfer story would actually be able to lighten the mood on the Spurs board? (For me it does anyway <laugh>). News outlets are reporting we've made contact with Dnipro for their star man Konoplyanka. Roo mentioned this in another thread but thought I'd bring it out in the open :D

Looked good against us in both Europa legs. Would signal the end for one or two players though IF we brought him in I reckon, namely Boss' favourite player Chadli and/ or Sigurdsson.

Thoughts?

We don't want to lose Chadli or Siggy. They are from the Jenas pool of potential, each year they will be viewed as having potential and it's just a matter of time before they show us what they are capable of.

The worry about Chadli is that in the world cup, he will score a screamer or over shadow Hazard and because of his lack of chances he will look to leave and we must try and keep Chadli. Maximise the marketing opportunities, get him signed up with Brylcream. Just let's not sell him to fund a move for a player sent by Ramos to destroy our team spirit. We will regret it!

The owner of his club is a dodgy ****er - we met his buy out clause and he had a medical and the owner simply refused to sign the paper work 5 minutes before the deadline.

Good player though, so worth a punt if you can somehow get round that Mafia bloke.

Wasn't there some story about you guys questioning the legality of how they wanted the money paid?

Not sure about that. All I know is the player wanted to join, personal terms were agreed, a fee was agreed, a medical was completed. Then with literally 5 minutes to go the owner refused to sign!

The owner is a complete loon from what I hear.

I hear people compare it with when Arsenal met the Suarez clause - but there are so many differences between the two it's ridiculous people make that comparison.

What are the differences, then? Both players wanted to leave and the bidding clubs were willing to pay the appropriate fees.

I don't know if anyone's said it, but it wouldn't surprise me if this story has come about due to the general negativity towards the club from many fans.

we're out of all cup competitions (pretty much) and not going to get 4th. The team is playing poorly and "Levy out" banners appeared around the ground on Sunday.

Then conveniently some news breaks about us being close to signing a player who we all witnessed tear us apart single handed, just a couple of weeks before.....

I've seen it all now, a Liverpool fan complaining that a club didn't honour a buy-out clause.

Does this ring any bells? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26414167

The Spurs boss spoke about the need to alter the club’s transfer policy going forwards and downplayed reports that a deal is close for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.

“Konoplyanka is certainly one who’s being talked about, but nothing definitive
,” Sherwood said.

“I think we have to make sure we see a lot more of these guys before they come in, not just the highlights, because we’ve got to make sure we do our recruitment job on them.

“I will sign the players, absolutely. Nobody else will come in here unless I sanction it. You can’t work any other way.

“The manager has got to work with the players, so unless he gets the players he wants it’s always going to be an uphill task. He will always have the excuse of, ‘well, they’re not my players’.

“Someone else has made those decisions in the past and I’ve not been privy to it. I know the type of players I want to improve the group and take it forward next season.

“It’s out of my hands but I believe I’ll be here next year. I’m planning for next season. The players are playing for their futures.”

Exciting news, especially for Roo!
