Who'd have thought a transfer story would actually be able to lighten the mood on the Spurs board? (For me it does anyway <laugh>). News outlets are reporting we've made contact with Dnipro for their star man Konoplyanka. Roo mentioned this in another thread but thought I'd bring it out in the open :D

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1754828?cc=5739

Looked good against us in both Europa legs. Would signal the end for one or two players though IF we brought him in I reckon, namely Boss' favourite player Chadli and/ or Sigurdsson.

Thoughts?

I wish I had more confidence in Rose. Unless we are going to reabilitate Benny we need a LB and a replacement for Defoe.

Anyway it's months until the transfer window? Are you sneaking in a new transfer thread SoS <laugh>

Yeah agree, a LB is definitely the priority for me.

<laugh> I've been doing my best to avoid transfer rumours in recent months but after the past week's negativity, I thought a little cheeky rumour may take a few minds off the doom and gloom. I'll leave Roo or Moorpheus to the proper transfer threads though, they do a stellar job of updating theirs and quite frankly I'm too much of a lazy bastard to keep things up to date :D

He's so frustrating at times, has so much talent but often makes the wrong decisions.

Getting rid of Chadli and Sigurdsson and bringing in Konoplyanka sounds like a good bit of business.

Although he mainly plays as a winger for Dnipro, for the Ukraine national team he often plays something akin to the number ten role with Andriy Yarmolenko on the flank.

Liverpool upset Dnipro's chairman, apparently. He slagged off their approach during January and then added this:
"If I was in*Konoplyanka’s*place I’d choose Tottenham. London, not Liverpool. Football is 90 minutes on the field, maybe two matches per week, but the rest of a footballer’s time should be living somewhere nice."

Bitchy!

I think we need to sort out our long term manager before we start signing players.

Clearly trying to create an auction, if said player prefers to live in the smog of London its up to him

We'll have other targets if we get in CL. More players to chose from etc

Looking at the brands of football our teams play, given the type of player he is, I'd say he'd be leaning towards us despite what their president says

He didnt want to deal with us in Jan and is bitching because he knows if we go back for him in the summer we'll get their star player

I think we can read that he prefers London as Spurs have made a better offer.

Why, is Liverpool smog of better quality than London smog? Not that there's been any smog in London for decades now.

Are there any quotes of Kono himself saying who he'd prefer or are all the quotes from the club president?

Smog in London? <laugh> Do we have to dodge Jack the Ripper when we venture near Whitechapel, too? What ****ing year is this?

No, it's just the president opening the auction.

So I suppose it depends where Kono pups rather go. He hasn't said anything himself yet so I suppose we'll have too see.

It also depends on who Dnipro accept bids for and who actually bids for him. You may not go back in for him in the summer and we might not have even contacted them at all.
It's become something of a trend to talk about a move to Spurs in recent years, as we tend to have money to spend in each window and it's plausible that we'll bid for virtually anyone.
Other clubs generally won't know if we're genuinely after someone or not, so clubs and agents use it to try and force interested party's hands.
