No I don't, but then again, I have no way of knowing, and judging by the Ansah tweets, there were rumours floating around before. I will say that if the story is true that RD returned CP's contract unsigned with the words 'You're sacked' scawled on it, it marks him down as a small, petty and unworthy man. It all smells a lot like the treatment Parkinson got from Slater and Jiminez, and I think CP showed a lot of loyalty and worked very hard with us and deserved a damned sight better treatment.
Moving on, which is what the club has done,we have a manager who was mentioned in no-one's top ten wish list, apart from the mighty Ponders. However, I'm a Charlton fan, not a CP one, and I agree with the Captain that the protest, season ticket boycott thing is silly. This is football today, and our hope is that the new geezer can actually Weld our squad into a football team. I've defended CP up and down (mostly) and my major grief with Volly and Typical was that an incoming manager would have the same squad CP has, and that we would probably find it tough to attract a decent manager. Famous last words! But that is where we are and there is still the hope that a new broom might sweep in a bit of fight that we've lacked this season. Let's face it, the man who left today was manager of the team who are bottom of the league.
Finally, I wish CP all the best. Parky was shabbily ( :emoticon-0103-cool: ) thrown out and achieved some deserved glory with Bradford, and I'm sure CP will do good things elsewhere. But that's another story.

Reflecting on today it seems a little like a death in the family. We all knew that not everything was well and that the illness could be fatal. We had different diagnosis as to what the malaise was, whether the patient was being starved as some of us thought or as others believed, the patient had lost the plot and was slowly killing themselves. However all of us have great memories of CP and even those who threatened euthanasia probably have a small tear in their eye.
We should make tomorrow a wake supporting the club in the best way but maybe a minutes silence at three minutes in.

The trouble is that most belgians have been certified as having had emotion by passes so will not recognise the feelings expressed.

They will probably believe that the silence is respect for the fact that riga mortis has joined as coach.

Games in hand do not equate to points, Mike, and with CP in charge they were not likely to.

I understand people are sad for CP, and I understand why it feels like the club is losing its identity, but we need to stay up if we are to grow again.

Charlton Athletic will live on, and CP will quite rightly be a massive part of our history.

I know of 5 season ticket holders who will not renew next season, in fact the renewal forms are either in the bin or have been ripped up........ expensive part of the ground as well..... for me the season ticket forms which landed on my mat this morning will be posted back to the club UNOPENED.

Roland will not give a feck but between them these lost season ticket holders have 12 children who will also be lost to the club.

Sad day in my opinion :(

Sad day in a rubbish season, but I agree with Ponders. games in hand are'nt points, and our form suggested we'd have been lucky to get a win from the five.

Get a grip man !! Have you ever experienced a "death in the family"? How on earth can the justified sacking of a bloke you probably don't know be used in comparison.

I have spoken to four Charlton fans since yesterday and all four of them will not be going tonight. Variety of reasons, but all four basically pissed off big time not so much with the sacking as the way RD is running the club down.

I got my renewal forms yesterday and promptly threw them in the bin. I was already 50/50 as to weather I'd renew (trying to save for a deposit on a flat) but yesterday was the final nail in the coffin, not so much with Powell's sacking (I think he'd done as much as he could) but with the treatment of how he was fired, the timing, the replacement and the overwhelming view online that RD wants to pick the team of his SL players.

You never know, Riga might turn out to be a master stroke appointment and the SL players might turn out to be hidden gems, but I can't help feeling that all the work CP did bringing youth players through this year will be blown away in favour of loans, not that RD will miss me or any other fan that chooses not to renew but that is how I feel.

Season ticket wise, I'm undecided. I know deep down they will be renewed, but for once I might have to wait to see what RD does with the team. With TJ and MS, despite them not investing in the squad, you knew they wouldn't cash in. With RD, I can't see it being the same.

    Don't be so insulting
At my age I have experienced more than my fair share of deaths of both friends and family.
If you cannot understand analogy then at least respect other posters integrity or post elsewhere.

Interesting read despite it being the Mail, hopefully it hits home, most the media has just said, Charlton are bottom, manager sacked, foreign owener brings in foreign manager. That article at least gives some insight into the situation here.

It is time for the fans to stand up and be counted (all 300 of us at this rate). RD needs to know we are a football club in our own right, not Liege B, and it will be the fans who do that.

Interesting about Thuram being called a conference keeper though... I thought that level was far too high

Don't often agree with the Malice but wholeheartedly agree it is time for the fans to show some disrespect for an owner who doesn't give a tinkers cuss for them. If they don't go that is the first sign but it is mid week and many won't make it ( I will find it difficult but intend to be there). We should co-ordinate something simple like turning our backs when the new "coach" comes out. This would not be in support of CP but in condemnation of having our position as a feeder club to the Belgian minnows. and/or if you want to support CP a chorus of "Chrissie Powell's red army" at kick off.

Just saw Poyet was asked on Twitter to sign a CAFC contract, then someone said "or at least not to sign for one of RD's clubs" and he said "Promise"

hopefully it's about a contract.... but I have a scary feeling it's about just not joining Liege. The kid is destined for greatness so I wouldn't be hurt if he left at the end of the season. Just a bit sad and annoyed that he left because RD is letting him go

Super Xemployee Chrissy was saying that Roland does not want him? (or maybe I misread) and the contract was not signed or approved, If this is the case then the entire mantra of running the team through the academy is bullshat. I have this uneasy feeling we are being operated on.

I'm sure there will be a chorus of CP's RA but I won't be joining in because there was too much about our football over the last year which I didn't like at all. But it still stinks the way he was sacked, and the way the OS is almost airbrushing him away. In fact the way Roland is running the club stinks.

I fully understood the analogy, I just felt it was a ridiculous one. We can all lament the classless way that it was handled but the bottom line is that based on performance (important word, that), we have six league wins all season, are the lowest scorers in the country, and had just run the white flag up on national TV. All under CP's watch.

What happens if, like me, you thought that Powell was a busted flush who deserved to go, but more importantly dislikes with a passion what RD is doing overall?
