Yes, they do. However, the club owes them some cohesive management and realistic game plans. Both have been in very short supply!...again, I doubt that is the vision they were sold.
Barca have been linked with him for several months. Now if anyone wants to draw a conclusion between that and his mind not being on his performances for Spurs...
Because he will play alongside better players and not be managed by Dim Sherwood. And then the same people who want him gone will blame Levy and the club for letting him go.
Adebayor is managing to perform Ok under Sherwood. Using Sherwood is an excuse for Verts dreadful performances. Good luck to Verts if he gets his dream move but he won't be missed based on how's he performed this year.
let's be honest, The entire defence needs looking at. Vertonghen doesn't appear to be interested and his form is awful. Dawson is past it. Gives his all, but just isn't good enough. Kaboul is frequently injured Rose is distinctly average. that's slightly concerning bearing in mind those 4 names could easily start for us.
Sell him, gossip column is saying we will buy Valencia and France C/B,Jeremy Mathieu,if Verts goes, and i won't miss him, gone right down in my estimation
And Walker is playing as a no10 based on saturday, lol! Wholesale changes don't work, we showed that last summer. But i dunno what we are gonna do at the back because i agree with what you just wrote. I'd be amazed if Verts is still here next season unless we hold him hostage, and he's already showing he's not gonna knuckle down like Suarez has for example. We need to keep hold of Walker and Chiriches, build the team around them. Then a new CB to replace Verts and have Kab/Dawson as standby. Keep Rose but buy another LB too who will eventually be no1 but ease him in.
I'm simply not convinced as Walker as a defender. He's a great athlete, but he comes alive most in the opponents half of the field. If I were manager of Spurs, I'd be looking to turn him into a right-sided Bale. But we certainly do need a decent RB, and Walker isn't it.
Mourinho claimed after the game that he was very happy to see Walker on the right wing, as he normally has to legislate for his attacks down that side and it freed up one of his players.
I've seen a lot of (justified! ) moaning about our defence, but Vlad has had little mention, bags of potential that lad, raw yes, but I think suited to our league. Sticks his head in where it hurts...a bit too much!
Your post prompted mine. He has plenty of natural ability, more than your average CB and some better ones tbh! which is important, reads the game pretty well, he's made some timely interceptions. Positionally caught at times, but all that stuff is coachable, and like you say, if he'd been out there at the weekend his is one head that won't drop.
Has John Terry, Puyol, Kompany isn't electric either, many top CB's aren't, play them with someone who is...kaboul, if he can't stay fit get another who is.
I've been really impressed with Vlad so far, too. He can only get better, IMO. - which is why I left him out. Walker has apparently got an excellent attitude, which stems from his childhood. One of my FA tutors told me that he used to have to get 3 different buses to training at Sheff UTD, was totally committed and often stayed late to work on parts of his game. Apparently his dad was quite tough on him and if he played **** for the academy, he'd drive off after games leaving Kyle behind to find his own way home. Walker doesn't concern me and I always feel that he actually gives a ****. As long as he's kept that attitude (which seems to be the case), I have every confidence that he'll continue to grow into a top right back. However, we need some stability with our management. Not just for him, but for everyone!
Lets hope you're right. I'd hate to see Walker do a "Vertonghen" as, like you, i like him as a player and he certainly busts a gut out on the pitch every week.
