With both Given and Craig Gordon potentially available, should we bring one of these in? It would give Szczesny proper competition for the No1 spot and we would have more than adequate back up, whoever was in goal.
I think Fabianski is a good enough backup. If we signed another top class goalkeeper then Szczesny would probably leave.
Im not a fan of Shay Given, and Craig Gordon is far too injury prone. However, I think both Lukasz and Vito should move on. Fabs is at an age where he should be playing week in week out, not fighting with a 21 year old for a first team place. Also the fact that Wojciech and Lukasz are also in direct competition for Polands number 1 spot, with Poland hosting the Euro 2012 competition with Ukraine, should make Fabs want to move. Vito has had a taste of 1st team football, and has some interest in him. I would go for someone like Sorenson, as back up, and have Damian Martinez as 3rd choice.
Well Sczezney has great potential but I honestly feel Fabianski is a complete liability. He had 5-6 decent games last Season but Arsenal fans need to remeber the guy is only 25 and has already made 5-6 HIGH PROFILE ERRORS. He's an athletic guy and a good shotstopper but he has a screw loose. For that reason I would like to see some experience brought in.
Szczesny is most probably the best keeper in the premier league. Buying another keeper would make sense but the money would be better spent elsewhere.
Must be top 4 then, cos Foster went down with the Brum!! Szczesny is very good already, and by playing week in week out he will get even better. I would expect us to need to buy a back up, as I said yesterday Fabs and Vito would be mad to want to stay as back up to Wojciech. So yes we need a new keeper, but not a first choice.
But by all accounts is on his way to Villa - if rumours are to be believed. Also that list doesn't include the potential / immiment arrival of De Gea
No doubt Foster will be in the Premiership next season. I am sure there will be many comparisons and "who is better" over the years if de Gea joins Man Utd. Both will be top class keepers for the next decade and a bit. At this stage I wouldn't have Szczesny in the top 5. Reina, Cech, Howard, Hart, Gordon (when fit), Robinson, Foster and van der Sar were all above him last season . But I am sure he will improve alot on last season and in the near future I think he will be one of the best in Europe, not just the Premiership. For his first (half) season he did very well, and will have learnt very big lessons from games like the cup final, v Barca etc.
