Spurs transfer "rumour" watch

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Mar 4, 2014.

1. Tottenham are closing in on a deal to bring Anderlecht midfielder Ismail Azzaoui, 16, to White Hart Lane. The teenager has already rejected a contract to stay with the Belgian club.
(Source: Daily Star)

Because that's exactly what we need right now - another kiddie midfielder who isn't going to get a chance!

apparently that deal is almost complete. rated as highly as Janujaz is.

knowing us, we'll sign the one that develops into a championship level player.

We seem to be going after a bunch of youngsters from all over the world. Part of Baldini's approach, perhaps?
I'm sure that he's had some success with South American youth players in the past, so it might not be the worst way to go about things.
Roma made a £20m profit on Marquinhos, a Brazilian centre-back who they sold to PSG, in about one season.

Roma also made a €16m profit on Lamela, which could increase to €22m...

It is very hard to get excited , if any player shows any outstanding talent they will be sold at there peak ,
sort of couldn't clear less.

I'd agree with this. Sounds like Levy trying to turn a profit in a few years...

Exactly, we have 3-4 years of the player developing and making all his mistakes and learning his trade at Spurs, then if we r lucky he will have 1-2 good seasons and then decide he wants to move on to play at the highest level and win trophies elsewhere.

You are aware the goons also sell their star names, as do clubs like Dortmund who have won domestic titles recently and appeared in the champions league final.

We can't stop players being ambitious, it's just a fact if Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, bid for a player then it's rare for anyone to say no.

If Man Utd under Fergie bid for a domestic player, they usually get their man or if someone turns them down, like Shearer or Gazza, then it's done for reasons other then wanting to win trophies.

If you want to see ridiculous rumours, look no further than the one saying we loaned Musa Yahaya to Celta Vigo.

Quite miraculous, given at most he can sign a pre-contract deal that would exclude him from being loaned until he turned 17, and thus far there's no confirmation of him signing, just rumours from the weekend and similar-sounding rumours from two weeks ago.

I know mate, probably only 3-4 clubs in the world that can hold on to their star players.

But we've been moving up the food chain doing exactly that (though we'll see how this year's buys pan out).

I'm glad we're spending comparatively little money to get a player we may sell for loads more eventually (or who knows, may even turn into a Lennon or Walker, or <cool>Ade, and stay long term)

The best buys we could be making are the very young players. You can get them so much cheaper, the fact they're hit and miss is more than outweighed.

I can hear Baldini's sales pitch now: "most of our better players get the opportunity to move on to Real Madrid, we have a special agreement with them you know".
