Monk had a full week rest for his returning players from injury and started off with Cardiff Stoke. Laudrup actually tried against Everton, Monks teamagainst Everton --lol . Monk had a full squad almost. Laudrup had not even half his starters. To ssy Laudrup had it easier is foolishness , really
And Monk tried against Liverpool, given how we were only playing Bradford the following week, I never read the same fuss. Of course Monks games have been harder than the January run in.
If you don't mind valley , I would like you to end my account please. Good luck to most , good riddance to some .
I hope not Vetch, although there are people disagreeing with each other regarding Monk and Laudrup ect at the moment, it's been an interesting topic to debate and read.
You really think that? We played Everton, Chelsea, Utd x2, City and Spurs during Laudrup's last 10 games.
Given the positions and form in the table at the time yes. As I say Everton, Napoli x 2 and Liverpool back to back is a harder run in my opinion as we played these all within a 12 day period.
24 League games under ML... Home - 3 win = Sunderland, Newcastle, Fulham - 4 draw = Liverpool, West Ham, Stoke, Hull - 5 loss = Man Utd, Arsenal, Everton, Man City, Spurs Away - 3 win = West Brom, Palace, Fulham - 2 draw = Norwich, Aston Villa - 7 loss = Spurs, Southampton, Cardiff, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, West Ham This season against the top half (10 teams) Home = 1 win, 2 draw, 5 loss / Away = 0 win, 0 draw, 6 loss This season against the bottom half (9 teams) Home = 2 win, 2 draw, 0 loss / Away = 3 win, 2 draw, 1 loss Against top half teams = 5/24 points at home = 20.8% 0/18 points away = 0% Against bottom half teams = 8/12 points at home = 66.6% 11/18 points away = 61.1% Now based on those averages. At seasons end, ML could have had......drum roll please........ Top half teams Home = 10 at 20.8% = 6 points Top half teams Away = 10 at 0% = 0 points Bottom half teams Home = 9 at 66.6% = 18 points Bottom half teams Away = 9 at 61.1% = 16 points So on average, ML was on course to get us 40 points. Monk on the other hand Against top half teams = 0/0 points at home = 0% 0/3 points away = 0% Against bottom half teams = 4/6 points at home = 66.6% 1/3 points away = 33.3% Now based on those averages. At seasons end, GM could have had......drum roll please........ Top half teams Home = 10 at 0% = 0 points Top half teams Away = 10 at 0% = 0 points Bottom half teams Home = 9 at 66.6% = 18 points Bottom half teams Away = 9 at 33.3% = 9 points So on average, GM is on course to get us 25 points. Granted hard to judge properly just yet, but those claiming we are already better off are smoking something. And as much as you want to pretend our fortunes have changed, the stats back up that so far its got worse. GM's results against lower clubs are already worse than ML's, ML played 10 games against bottom half, of which 6 were away. ML played 14 against top half, of which 8 were home. So a horrible set of fixtures. Yet your blowing kisses up Monks arse for getting a worse point return rate on the manager you think we rightfully sacked. Beggars belief.
22 DEC Everton (H) 26 DEC Chelsea (A) 28 DEC Aston Villa (A) 1 JAN Man City (H) 5 JAN Man Utd (A) 5 Tough games in a period of 14 days, not to mention Christmas and the new year in that too, which also counts as a busy time After all, they are also in his last 10 games Whilst having a flurry of injuries to deal with.
I did say its hard to judge properly just yet, but can still use it against those who are claiming we are better off already, as they are using unbeaten against lower clubs as if ML was any different.
Very good post Was just taking to a mate about this sort of review, especially as I've seen some posts on here saying we have 4 points out of 9 under monk....and dismissing the Liverpool game because they are not our rivals for survival. This sort of leniency would never be allowed by the same people when judging ML. Your analysis above at least takes a fairly balanced and logical view, and you admit to it not being perfect, which is fair enough.
Come on you moaning mini's get in the mood, we have 3 new jacks in our ranks.. http://youtu.be/SFGmnqEiG3I
Absolutely, how many league games has Monk played? how many has he lost? Will he have the benefit of Michu soon? what will be the variable effect of the current break? Have we hit our best form yet? One thing I do know though, and that is we are not going down now, and that's all I'm interested in, this will not be a season I will forget in a hurry!................ PS: Have you factored in yet swanselona 'Monks Twins' into you theorem?.................
