And why are you still hurt? Were you rooting for us? That contradicts what you said.

Little Cockwork does seem to have a bee in his bonnet. I think it hurts him because we are still proud of our team even after defeat..

Question - do Wigan have great fans, in your opinion?

As we have been many times and may it continue. Got to take the good and the bad when supporting your team.

I know most of the time it's all good banter on here and both sides give as good as they get, obviously.

But to be fair I don't think Sunderland fans have particularly overplayed or overstated their and the club's part in the cup final.

Never mind all the other stuff, they were terrific at Wembley and had a fantastic day – just as you would expect from BOTH clubs.

Sadly these occasions don't come along too regularly for either anymore and if for nothing more than reminding the FA north-east football still exists it's nice when they do.

As a NUFC fan did I want Sunderland to win? No – didn't even want them in the final to risk it particularly but denying they put in a good showing is futile.

They do have much to proud of and as a football fan I can't deny them that!

I have seen my team lose ay Wembley and it's not nice. If you want to take high ground because you have been to new one feel, doesn't bother me.

I had a cracking day with my brother and my two sons, and all I was really hoping for regarding the game is that we put in a decent performance and didn't make it easy for Man City..Well my team certainly done that n my opinion, and we all walked away with our heads held high..

PS..It would have been great to win though..<ok>

I just hope that the team can take some positive momentum out of all the positivity that seems to be prevalent following the final..I would be enjoying this up and coming quarter final against Hull far more if we had a few more points on the board..

I admit you played well and I thought **** me no untill they took lead.

I also admit you fans were good.

But not unique everytime I have been to finals, semi finals etc I have found the we have absoloutley outnumbered the oppo.

What gets me is how many posts are on sites claiming you are some kind of super fans.

lets be honest a lot of those at the final will not be at the SOL more than twice the rest of this season.

Some of my best mates went to the final, season ticket holders and regulars I have nothing but respect for those that go and support their team.

I think a lot of this must be in your imagination...I have never saw anything from Sunderland fans saying we are the best supporters etc. Most fans are just saying that they were proud of the lads even in defeat...The only best supporters comments I have read have come from players, which you tend to expect, but more surprisingly the Man City fans who have sent stacks of comments about how friendly everyone was to them even when they were massively outnumbered in the bars all over London..

    Dear Mr Cushing,

Just a few words to say how much myself and the rest of the team appreciated the reception your fans gave us when we took the cup ‘round to their side of the ground after the game at Wembley.

If in some way you could convey this to your fans we would be very grateful indeed and we sincerely hope that at some time in the not too distant future you and your fans get all that you deserve in the form of a cup.

My most sincere best wishes for the future.

    Kind regards,

    Mike Doyle

    (Club Captain)

    Thanks Mike, we’re still waiting…
