It's a shame but, I would personally have played wes over him anyway at the weekend. I think he's better deeper and wes has a bit more cutting edge in the final third + shifts momentum much quicker in the advanced role that fer has occupied recently.

That being said it's a loss for our midfield competition, as I doubt Tettey and Johnsons recent form will continue until the end of the season meaning Howson may have to play a deeper role again.

Yes, it is a blow and ironically, one probably brought on by the earlier injuries to Tettey and Howson (precious few choices in midfield over that time). It's the worst season for injuries I can remember in the last 40 years.

That interview seems to pretty much guarantee Howson starting on Sunday, if I've read it correctly.

I do hope it's that and not a change to 4-4-2!

Tettey has played like he is pretty much all season, I think that's actually just how good he is.

But he burnt out badly last season and admitted he found the premierships pace difficult to sustain. Not sure he'll stay as good as he has been for another 11 games.

He struggled to get back up to pace after his injury last season but this season has come back the same as he was.

Update on Fers injury, He is likely to be out for upto 10 weeks.
Good news is Jonny Howson is back!!!

This was reported on Newsnow by goal.com on Feb 28th - and pooh-poohed by Hughton at the time while appropriate scans were carried out.
So, one of two things, 1) goal.com have inside medical information, or 2) someone has had a lucky 'guess'.
Can that someone help me choose Saturday's lottery numbers, please? <ok>

If 10 weeks is right he's basically out for the rest of the season. Hamstrings are nasty buggers, but 10 weeks sounds long unless he's torn something - Hughton indicated it was a nasty strain - his words were "matter of weeks", which, to my mind, implies (a) that he will return before the end of the season and (b) somewhere between 3 and 7 weeks (any shorter and he'd have said "a couple of weeks", any longer and he'd have said "a couple of months") goal.com said 6 weeks, which sounds like they have inside information to me!!
