£5m is way too much. Id rather have Ba (free), Bothroyd (free) and DJ Campbell £1m. if the skunks get Ba for free and we pay 5million for ngog we'll still be wiping egg off our faces come august 20th.

On another note, id rather have reo coker and Vaughan for nowt than pay £6m for Gibson. And Upson and Spector for nowt than Wes Brown and O'shea for £6m.

Save the money for two top quality signings. Nzogbia and a quality proven striker.

Got to agree with Parkersafc Campbell for 1 mil, and Reo Coker would be a good shout, along with Vaughan (But WBA seems his destination) over Darron Gibson. Disagree on Upson though, a liability and wages will be astronomical.

Difference is we are paying for players with PL, Uefa Cup and CL experience, and playing alongside the best players in the country and arguably getting trained by the best coaches in the country.

Reo Coker has been crap since he went to villa, vaughan has 1 year prem experience, same as DJ campbell, Bothroyd hasnt even got that, and other than that championship football.

Bothroyd has played in the PL in the past, true he didn't cut it but if we are going to give N'Gog a chance to prove himself for 5 milllion I don't see why we cant give Bothroyd the same chance for free.

Cheers Rog, I'm just praying we pull a blinder of a signing off before the start of the season. We have to trust Niall, I'm hoping the fact we haven't gone for Ba is an indication that we have something special in the works. Keep the faith.

A good mate of mine who's also an ex-pat like myself, born in L'pool, so a Red.

We get to watch most of the games over the weekend's here as often as we can.

Have to say whenever a L'pool game has been on, when a subs been made, the dreaded 'they've brought that bloody N'gog on'.

    He think's he's s***e.

    fair enough but

Just becasue a player doesnt look good in a good team doesnt mean he is crap (Gibson/N`gog, even Welbeck), and just because a player or players look great in a bad team doesnt mean they are good either (campbell/vaughan)

lets just see what they are like in a red and white shirt before we slate them.

PS: i would still prefer to pay the cash for ones that look rubbish in a good team, than nothing for those that look good in a bad team. (just for their experience and coaching)

That's potentially the most illogical thing I've ever heard. You'd rather pay money for players who have play crap than get players who have been playing good for free? Just for the fact it sounds better saying former Manchester United than former Blackpool?

Players from bigger clubs potentially come with an ego and sense of entitlement too. Whereas someone from a smaller club may have greater drive to prove themselves.

When did i say it sounded better, it is better as they have played with better players and been coached by better coaches, I dont want Vaughan or DJ campbell and definately not Bothroyd even if they are free.

Not really, someone from a big club will come and want to be good, and show what they can do, someone from a small club who just got relegated may just want to be back in the premiership, once there, and got a contract, even if they play OK they will be seen as a success. (to themselves).

I dont really understand all this no to N`gog, Gibson, O`shea, Brown, they have experience of European football, the frees havnt im afraid.

PS: opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one, you dont agree with mine, i dont agree with yours, life would be boring if we all thought the same thing.

This one worries me. He has pace but a poor first touch. He might make good but surely the likes of dememba Ba would have been a better bet. How the f**k did the Mags get him?

spot on again syd, he's pacy, tall, good hold up player. might not get 20 goals but should help sess and asa to get 15 or so each. We may even get 5-10 goals from midfield next season.

Here we go again. How do you know it is £5 million. Just because some paper says so doesn't mean it's right. Remember when we brought Michael Turner in from Hull all the press were reporting about £8 million but later it emerged the price had been about half that.
