How reliable are Goal.com? That's the only report I can see of it so far, nothing from the official channels, and no other news sites have picked it up as far as I can see. They're reporting it as a training injury sustained today. Would be a blow if true, although at least Howson's return means 4-3-3 is still possible.
Bad news if it is true. Howson or Hoolahan could fill in, or CH could revert to two strikers with Hooper and RvW in tandem now that the defence is looking so solid. Worth a go?
If this is true, I'm aware I might get shot down for overreacting, but this is nothing shy of an unmitigated disaster. Fer has been quiet, but even when he's had a poor game he has had influential moments. He is easily our best midfielder. But more to the point, we have had ridiculously bad luck with injuries to midfielders. He was the perfect player to play against Villa, where he would have had space and time to really boss. I've no doubt Howson will step up, but he's not fit enough yet and this is too soon. Club and team morale was clearly on the up and injuries just really deflate the whole team. FFS. This better be a mistake because otherwise it's really ruined my week
Is the presser tomorrow? Whenever it is, that's probably the first chance we've got of clarification.
I've been dreading this moment - something other than horse-**** to go on No mention - so far, touch wood, of any timescales involved.
FFS!! I've got one transfer left to make in my work fantasy football league which I need to make today. I was all ready to take out Rat for Curtis Davies but as I have Leroy in that team this changes things - I really, really hope this is nothing serious but if he is going to be out for a while then I really need to know today!!
Oh dear! Although he was off his best form, Leroy will be missed. Hopefully no more than 6 weeks. So, for all of us wanting to see Wes have more action, this will be his chance to shine. And with Jonny Howson coming back at just the right time, we don't need to panic right yet.
This is true - if there is a silver lining to be had from this latest injury scare, it's that Tettey is already back (and playing the best he has for us so far ) and Howson is ready to return. The continued absence of Alex Tettey would have been more critical, I feel, as Johnson can cover for Fer in a deeper role, and Howson or Wes can cover for him further up the pitch. That's how I'm hoping things pan out, anyway. No timescale on Fer as 'still being assessed' according to CH this afternoon.
Yep, spot on. It's just a shame that as soon as we come close to getting the whole squad fit we're hit with another injury. Would love to see Wes start against Villa with Howson replacing him later on in the game.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got your wish. Wes will play a complete blinder - just to rub Lambert's nose in it
Real shame. It really has been a bad season for injuries. I can't remember the last time we had so many first team players out injured for so long in the season. Fer has been used ALOT this season and it's understandable that he might be feeling the effects. Hopefully it's not too long but knowing our luck it'll probably be the full ten weeks suggested
