Tan Interview

He now realises he has committed the cardinal sin of intermeddling in the football side of a football club. That will cost him £millions as there are not sufficient assets for him to recover his investment if he wants to sell.
The interview just adds to the persona he has created for himself. He is portrayed as a joke not a likeable eccentric.

I am not sure how anything can be read into that interview. He just sounded like a guy who wanted to remind people of the good he feels he has done and not just the bad that he is perceived to have been done. I also agree that the fact he is Asian puts him on the back foot and we have seen many racial and stereotypical posts made since he took over.

Exactly how i read it also.....If what he says 10% and then 5% then there was no reason to ask fans for an apology. he never asked for one before and there is countless fans in the stands with banners telling him to go....This is an excuse he will use to bugger off if you don't stay up its too bloody obvious to be anything else...
I agree with that Temple - very difficult to form (or change) and opinion about him on the basis of that.
Interviews with Tan always invoke negative reaction. Don't know what it is, but the guy displays an arrogant air that can be a right turnoff to even those who have been moderately supportive.
His stated intentions of taking the club forward are undermined by his veiled threats to walk away if he gets "pissed off" with those that oppose him on immotive issues like colour and badge changes. He always seems to manage to shoot himself in the foot and can be his own worst enemy when it comes to communication.
I didn't like the throwaway comment about finding someone else who liked blue to buy him out, and then he'd go somewhere else and build a "red" club - that stinks and shows little comittment to Cardiff City FC per se.
On the Malky/Moody issue, I'm inclined to listen to what he has to say (and do) about it. I think he's been ubderstated in the past on the issue, and the Malky/Tan good guy/bad guy circus has been rolling in one direction for far too long.
He now seems to think he's got a handle on this "football business" and I hope to God he has for the sake of the club. A little more humility and understanding of the supporters would go a long way to helping his cause, as well as getting a grip the financial side of things.

Huge concern is he has still not converted the debt into equity.

Cardiff City like many other clubs are controlled by foreigners, but the majority of these let the football people get on with the football side and not intermeddle to its detriment.

Very superstitious, hell bent of Red and absolutely will not change. Malky ****ed up but he admits he allowed to much freedom to the MM/Moody partnership. What else is new?
I can't see any reason to hate him more or less based on that interview. What he says about promotion is correct and whilst MM did the job it was Tans money that got us there. I made the comparison a few weeks back but Steve Bruce has shown last season and this how far off a PL manager MM is.
I would imagine MM's defence as he attempts to get his compensation from Tan will revolve around the increased value in some of the players we have signed. Noone looks about £7mill winger, Mutch would be sold for a profit barring injuries putting people off. If Caulker signs for Liverpool he should see a profit (depending on relegation release clauses). Medel will not make the £12m we paid imo and if that's his release clause then he'll be with us in the Championship unless he has a big world cup.

What does it matter whether you wear blue or red, whether you like or dislike Tan. Its the club we all support. Without Tan we wouldn't be anywhere. Without the Riddler we wouldn't be in a new stadium and definitely not in the PL. So why dont we all put our differences to one said and just support Cardiff City FC as i dont fancy supporting the County which is the only other alternative as i see it.

He just seems to have no desire at all to please the fans. How many other owners would say if the fans don't accept me I'll piss off??!! We are supposed to be enjoying this season in the Premiership, people have waited over 50 years to see this and its just turned into a joke.

Exactly, I'd love us to spend as long singing supporting the players as we do about the shirt colour. It has become the main agenda when we should be creating a hostile (Man City) type reception for every team visiting the CCS to fight to stay in this league.
I can imagine what would happen if the CEO of one of the major retail chains spoke about their customers like that. He is making his escape plan and never intended converting the debt. Everyone else's fault when things go wrong, yet takes credit when things go well.
When his family are getting all sorts of abuse on Twitter from a bunch of idiots claiming to be City fans you can't blame him for not being 100% positive about his relationship with the fans. I'm sure enough abuse of that type would see him 'piss off'. So it's the truth whether we like it or not. He regularly points out that he wants to stay a long time and build a club if the fans let him. I honestly don't see the problem with either of those statements as it's surely just what anyone else would do?
How often do customers of major retail fans threaten CEO's when they rebrand the company? We are customers but the comparison doesn't work imo due to the unique nature of a club and its fans/customers.
I sort of agree with the blame/credit point but he's removed his ability to do that. His claim he will be taking a much more hands on role on the running of the club means the sweeping statements blaming managers etc. will not be an option in the future.
I chuckled at that bit about the painter & decorating bloke having amazing football knowledge. I suspect he's gained that knowledge from playing FIFA on his x box all day

I agree with the sacking of Mackay and Moody for making idiotic decisions and buying extortionately priced average players, I dont think it would be the end of the world if he buggered off. Someone else would invest and someone else after that.
This is supposed to be our greatest, most exciting season of our history, but all we keep hearing is about stupid nonsense. Lets just support the team for now and hope we avoid relegation

interesting interview, it says he allowed the footballing side to make all the decisions relating to football and transfer fees, then was surprised when they do what almost all football people do which is to disregard the budget and spend as much money as possible. in his business thats unacceptable but its accepted in football that managers don't care about tomorrow, only today in terms of finances.
any fan couldnt help but be a bit wary of a loose cannon like tan having more say in the footballing side, namely transfers, he knows very little and though its his money, you need to trust the management to identify the players.....

That's the great unknown though. I see us as having 3 likely outcomes if he leaves;
Option a) lovely new billionaire who becomes an instant legend by returning us to Blue (very unlikely unless we are PL imo)
b) We get a lesser investor trying to do it on 'the cheap', we'd probably be midtable/playoff Championship club depending on the success of the manager at the time.
c) Some prick like Portsmouth. L2 crowds under 5k, the fans that are left fighting for the actual future of the club.
IMO b is the most likely outcome, with Tan doing a certain amount of asset stripping first. A & C are probably about equal in likelihood which is far too bigger risk of oblivion for me to be as anti Tan as many.
I don't lick his (or anyone else's) arse, but if that's the way Swamp see's it then that is his view and he's entitled to it.
I have no problem with him staying and building a future at Cardiff but it's got to be done in the right way. He knows very little if anything at all about football so he's got to take a back seat and let the manager/back room staff etc. take charge on the pitch.
