Chelsea have not lost a league match against the top five since Mourinho returned â won three, drawn two â and have conceded one goal with Terry on the field in 2014 (against Manchester United, although they were 3-0 up at the time). www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...n-Suarez-Terry-player-year.html#ixzz2uPjvKseX
It's a good shout. In terms of defenders he is unrivalled in the league this year you'd have to say. Company aside maybe. Aguero, Hazard and Suarez are probably nailed on as nominees. Ramsay too maybe given his early season form.
Hells yeah. Been really impressed with JT lately, and Cahill too. If there is one thing Jose knows how to do, its shoring up a defence. 1 league goal conceded in 2014 so far is pretty awesome. Remember that year when we won like our first 6 games of the season without letting in a single goal, and it got to the point where the papers were offering cash incentives to the first player to score against us. The game after that offer was made, James Beattie scored against us for Everton after 16 seconds from kick off. lol (Though we won the game 2-1 )
Suarez will take it, and I won't argue with it. Terry and Hazard are shoe-ins for the Team Of The Year. Although I see them fan-boying Baines in, Azpilicueta deserves it, has not put a foot wrong all season. Some of us complain about Cole's omission, but with the way Azpi is playing, it is on merit not Jose's ego. EDIT: My team so far Szeszcny Ivanovic - Koscielny - Terry - Azpilicueta Hazard - Toure - Gerrard - Lallana Suarez - Aguero Others in contention - Cech, Sagna, Mertesacker, Jagielka, Coleman, Ramsey, Silva, Rooney, Sturridge
Suarez hands down for me, then Hazard. My team of the season would be: Chesney/Mannone Coleman Koscielny Terry Azpilicueta Hazard Toure Ramsey (amazing till his injury.) Lallana Sturridge Suarez Subs: Chesney/Mannone, Ivanovic, Fonte, Gerrard, Silva, Rooney, Aguero
Who are these many many players? Strikers like Sturridge have been doing their job brilliantly, just as Terry has done his.
Although he should be nominated he won't win. For one, he's a defender, already putting him at a unfair disadvantage, due to footballs love-affair with attacking players. Secondly, this country hates him and will not judge him solely on his footballing merits.
Then Suarez wont get it? Terry has played well though but if Suarez doesn't get it something is very wrong.
Didn't Scott Parker win it for West Ham. Not exactly delivering in big games, pretty sure they went down that year.
Parker did win it in the year WH went down and whilst arguably an odd choice, he was outstanding for them that season. They would have been relegated a lot sooner without him and he performed well in many big games (including a great performance and goal at S.B when we beat them 3-1). Suarez has been amazing this year overall but he has dropped off a bit of late and his goals record against the big teams has been poor this year. Still, no player has been stand out brilliant all season.
