Mouser Watch #2

I can't believe I'm having a slanging match with a Mouser about which of our clubs can go back furthest in history! It's surreal.

That stadium is as likely to happen as Hicks and Gillettes was at Liverpool. All words but no action yet. There's a thread announcing building work to begin for it on another Spurs forum that was started in 2011!! And still........nada.

I guarantee the Anfield refurb will be done long before Spurs have a new stadium and even wheb they finally get one, it will be too late to give any advantage over Liverpool.

Liverpool are a much bigger team historically and presently, have a much bigger global following, who, especially abroad, can be fleeced of millions, and make significantly more revenue than Spurs (which will is only going to grow if LFC back in the CL, and have signed numerous huge commercial deals since the last accounts released ala Man Utd), Spurs being guaranteed to finish above them year in, year out (Like LFC were guaranteed to come above Spurs until 2010 when bankruptcy loomed and previous owners had destroyed the team/club almost) was highly unlikely to become a reality.

Spurs had a good 4/5 years over Liverpool, but it seems the days of them being the top dogs in this rivalry is about to end and we'll see a more balanced league performance with sometimes Liverpool coming above Spurs and then sometimes Spurs coming above Liverpool.

Like I said, with the size of Liverpool and the resources they have, plus the history/reputation, I never expected Spurs to become the long term superior club. Its the same with Utd. Their size, history, reputation and resources are so significantly better than Liverpool's, that it would be folly to think Liverpool will continually finish above them season in, season out. It just won't happen. Eventually those factors will show and they eventually climb back above Liverpool.

Its nothing but the football foodchain. Utd>LFC>THFC. Simple.

    Memories.

I remember sitting in the stand with the rest of the Spurs fans in our seat allocation and cheering when Spurs did something. The Liverpool crowd all turned on us hurling rather rude obscenities.
I felt like a Jewish person at a Nazi rally!

To the tune of You'll Never Walk Alone...

    You'll NEVER have a job.

It's a old one. Goes back at least as far as the Loadsamoney jibes of the '80's. I remember it as "You'll never work again, you'll never work again"

<laugh> yeah, Millwall, and a few others!...

I remember driving home one evening back in the 70's, as I was coming up to the bridge at New Cross Gate station ( nearest station to the old Den) I couldn't believe my eyes. It was like one of the battle scenes from Braveheart. A huge mob of Millwall fans had been laying in wait to ambush Man Utd supporters getting off the train - it was an FA cup game. No sign of plod, either....I managed to swerve my way through the chaos - somehow without hitting anybody.

At the very same place I remember seeing a similar scene in the Eighties with Millwall "greeting" West Ham fans. Foot down and away!

I bet you don't remember the last time the mighty Spurs won the league, or were you alive in 1960?

    This Is Liverpool, apparently:

Looks like a poor copy of Essex, which is probably not the best place to emulate.

Liverpool already suffered having one of those augmented reality shows (read: scripted drama pretending to be a reality show), and it got axed in a few weeks.

...and, no, I won't be watching Surrey Heights, the Croydon one with a title that's not a million miles from the word "****e"

I would've suggested a more appropriate title: Scripted Croydon Urchins Mithering, or SCUM for short.

  20. Nope, Spurs did the double shortly before I was born.
