Falkland Islands

The president of Argentina has had her weekly whinge about the Falkland islands. Should we enter into negotiations? Is there anything to negotiate? We couldn't afford another war so perhaps we should station one of our nuclear armed submarines there?

I propose that we get Argentina and the UN to agree to letting the Islanders have a referendum on their sovereignty the outcome of which would be lasting and non-negotiable.

 

We have quite a bit based there now anyway and a referendum would be a waste of money, the Falklands are ours.

Sadly, due to the Tories cutting back on our armed forces we don't have the manpower to defend the Malvinas. Basically, the Argentinians could just take them and there's **** all we could do about it.

 

That's about as much as we can do.

Maybe we can recruit a sort of Dad's Army and fly them over there to protect them. Any volunteers?

I'm sure ER and Trev would be up for a bit of Argie bashing.

The only reason this has reared it's head again is the fact that there has been a massive oil discovery off the Falklands.

I know nothing about the history of the sovereignty of the Islands so really am unable to comment. I do not comment on things I know nothing about.

Tell the Argies to Feck off again. The Islanders do not want to be part of Argentina and that's all that really matters.
