3 in 2 games I believe for Maynard. Shouldnt he have been given more of a chance here? I certainly would have liked to have seen him playing against Wigan and would have been an option for us in these important last few games.

Is there really that much difference in quality between top 6 Championship and bottom 6 Premiership?

It's 3 in 4 (subbed early in one) plus one sub appearance. Still better than any of our current team though.

If fit he's better than Berget appeared last Saturday.

Give Berget a chance Bluey. <ok>

One game each for both him and Cala won't decide anything. Cala came out of it showing a lot of promise straight away, but Berget looks in need of time.

Have we got the time to find out? Probably not, but if he gets another chance and sticks a couple in the onion bag, he'll be the best thing since sliced bread.

Trouble is Sparks I saw nothing in Berget to give me hope in the position he played Saturday, either now or in the future. He was slow, off the pace, didn't have the close control of either Eikrem or Daehli and didn't like it when they got a bit physical, oh, and did nothing in the air either.

I will be delighted to be proved wrong and will freely admit so if/when the time comes. Perhaps he is more a midfielder than striker and we will see a better player in a deeper role.

Cala may not be a game winner but he looked like a good defender who was able to read the game and not just react to events as Turner does. No disrespect to Turner who was my MOM v. Villa and a tough decision for OGS as to who starts on Saturday.

if he had gone 2 without scoring we'd have said we knew he wasnt up to standard. the management dont have the benefit of hindsight, no-one on here was saying to play him more, in any case i think he's probably found his level.

I'm pretty sure he didn't score in his first 4 games. Then scored 2 in his 5th.

He's gone, we should have kept him being as Cornelius and Odem were sold. We are light up front. I mentioned on another thread a 20+ goal championship striker could be very useful next season.

    Steve

I checked the Wigan site and the info I have quoted above is correct. Scored 2 last week before they played us and again last night. He is on loan, not sold, can't we get him back if we need him? There must be a recall clause as we are light upfront and if either Campbell of KWJ was injured then we would need him unles OGS is going to give Healy a chance?

of course, but thats the championship, not the premiership. hence why he's out on loan.

if he didnt score in his first 4 games then on what basis would he be likely to score in a league above that?

are we basing this whole thing on him scoring a brace at championship level? just checked, he's got 3 in 6, not bad, but i think its best he carries on scoring goals at a level he is comfortable at so that if we go down we've got the choice of either taking him back with a bit more confidence, or selling him.

I agree he's unproven, the reason I mentioned the first 4 games was it's the first time in 3 seasons the lads been given a run of 6 matches and after a slow start, the goals are coming.

Messi claimed he'd need 10 games to be up to speed after a couple of months out, never mind 3 seasons.

I don't think he'd have kept us up or anything daft, just that to loan him out then try to sign other Championship strikers Rosco etc. seemd a bit mental and didn't look like a calculated transfer strategy.

I just don't think the guy had any real run of football for us and feel he could have been useful at some point this season. It would be brilliant if the deal was we could get him back after he has gained some match fitness but I don't get the impression that's the case. I also agree that he could be a really useful player next year if the worst comes to the worst.

He's been banned from the Arsenal board and probably a few others as well - I know Hull have had a dose of his **** recently. If he becomes a nuisance other than just showing himself up as that aptly put "total twat" decription, I'll get him off here.

In the meantime, I'll delete any of his crap I see so please don't "reply with quote" to his rubbish. <ok>
