I thought we were pretending we don't care about the cup and we're happier out of it?

Tommy Docherty is saying... Ah well, there's always next season. And he was right.

love that. My sister and I were brought a tortoise each that summer. She called hers Pedro, so I named mine Rodrigues as it had a Spanish ring to it to go with Pedro (Peter)... not bad thought process for a 7 year old kid.

I am in that picture, easily recognisable just up and to the right of the goalpost!

"Man, this feels good, but finishing 7th will be better."

    Couldn't resist.

lol, I am 66 and barely a grey hair on my head! No I don't use Grecian e.t.c. just lucky I guess, my Dad was the same well into his 80's, guess it's down to not worrying too much! I do worry that I won't see another big day at Wembley however especially if the current attitudes prevail.

Ah Peter Rodriguez. He joined Saints on a free transfer and ended up lifting the cup. The thing I remember most about the final, apart from the goal, is his casual trap of a useful looking Man U cross in and the goalie collecting, cool as you like.

I was in an area with a lot of Manchester United fans in it, but it was a very mixed section, a small collection of Saints fans and a lot of neutrals, it was as a result of struggling to actually get a ticket at all, you needed vouchers, and I had, through shift working been forced to miss ONE home game, I think it was Oldham? and missed getting that vital voucher. My ticket came into my possession very late, through a very convulated method, my sister worked with someone, who was going out with a Saints player who in turn, kindly arranged for me to buy it, under the strict understanding that I wouldn't sell it on for profit! There was no chance that was going to happen! It was a weird sensation seeing grown people balling their eyes out. I can distinctly remember our fans jumping up and down and feeling the concrete floor flexing under the weight. I was deaf in one ear for weeks after from the "Come on You Yellows" being hollered in to it. Like I have said before, it was the best day of my life so far, and I still get disappointed when we get knocked out every Season, this year more so because there was a greater opportunity than normal and I feel we were badly let down for once. As I am getting older I cannot see myself going to Wembley for a FA Cup Final again. Unlike many, I have Memories of the big one, somehow it doesn't seem to have the same impact at the moment, I have mixed feelings about Teams that win it but get relegated in the process! I also missed the Arsenal Final through work commitments, but it not being at Wembley, just wasn't the same anyway.

I was there, just in line with Bobby Stokes left peg as he flashed the ball past Stepney. What a great weekend that was, somehow finishing 7th, 8th or 9th doesn't fill me with the same excitement.
    I'm depressed.

I wonder if they'll drag that old Routemaster bus out for a tour of the city if we finish 7th?
