Screw that.. Bring back the V10 and V12's.... This is how an F1 car should sound.
Brittney had me rolling with laughter at the end of this.... Brilliant! The irony was the I had to wait to watch this until I'd watched 5 seconds of a Red Bull ad. Those B'stards!
The v8's were annoying. All sounded the same and just screamed their nuts off without any real nice sound. The V10's & V12's were great, but I do have a soft spot for the turbo's as that's when I first started watching F1 back in the late 80's, so they were the first F1 cars I heard.
[h=1]Red Bull insists nothing major is wrong with its new Formula 1 car[/h] I'm no expert but I'd say a single lap at 75% pace causing the car to catch fire is a fairly substantial problem.....
More bollocks from the Italian press to keep the Ferrari heirarchy happy. They've been taking lessons from Mercedes...........
A lot of talk with everything Ferrari in the Italian media I guess? Seems everything Ferrari makes now is 'innovative', even the paint... Well first it was the engine using 'exotic high tech materials' which turned out to be garbage because the rules stated it's illegal to do so. In the end it was because Ferrari just didn't have a turbo deflector shield like Mercedes and Renault. Innovative for Ferrari is just really a term that the others teams are using a different method of saving fuel which might or might not be more effective then Ferrari's and is also 'innovative'. Keep hold of those straws now ya hear!
That sounds like they've managed to reinvent the stop-start technology that most higher-end road cars have had for years...
Woa woa, they're not that advanced. They said: The system means that, at times, the flow of fuel into the combustion chamber is stopped altogether and the engine is not ‘sparked’. Which is what happens when you lift of the throttle in gear in any car
So in other words it's basically technobabble for "we haven't done anything major, so we'll just claim you save fuel by lifting off, which is how it's been since the dawn of time"
I thought that when you lifted off the throttle in a modern car effectively the fuel flow went to idle and the sparks were still timed based on the crank rotation signals. Otherwise the engine would effectively immediately stop. I am guessing here but I would say the Ferrari system not only cuts the fuel and ignition pulses but also does not fully close the inlet or exhaust valves. So the relatively cool air from the turbo is pushed through the combustion chamber providing cooling! I think this can be accomplished as the inlet and exhaust valves are pneumatically controlled. I would be very surprised if the other teams are not doing the same as it would be very easy, well other than maybe valve cutouts in pistons being required to enable the valves to be open during the entire travel of the piston.
