The only positives that I can see are that:
1 We haven't spent heavily all season and gambled everything on going up first time. Perhaps if we had we wouldn't be having this debate now but that is water under the bridge
2 The remainder of our early mistakes who we haven't been able to shift must surely be reaching the ends of their contracts. The loanees will all return to their clubs and look forward to their next loan signing as they spiral their way down the League. I predict they will regret having wasted this opportunity. Does anyone still believe that Assou-Ekotto has a future at Spurs?
3 Redknapp will go very soon.
3 A new manager who has an eye for talented younger players and is given the time to develop a team can now come in. The emphasis must be on youth, talent and time to develop - not previous track records and reputations. Unless a miracle does happen we are now very definitely in it for the long haul so, once again let's not try to rush things.
4 Hopefully FFP will lead to our club's finances being run on a sound footing. The one thing which does constantly amaze me is that a man who made his fortune by selling cheap flights to the Far East and therefore clearly appreciates the need to obtain value for money has been so heavily seduced by reputations and the need to have a big name manager.
The risks are that players like Austin and Matt Phillips will not want to stay because one of the newly promoted sides comes in for them
